Theme Set Lists

[30kisses_mod]

This page contains all of the theme set lists that 30kisses currently uses. The original 30kisses list is at the top; it is recommended that people new to the community or the concept of themed set fic challenges should use this list. However, you can also request a claim using any of the alternative lists, regardless of whether you have completed a claim with us or on another theme set community before.

Of course, you can always stick with the original 30 kisses and simply change your fandom/pairing-- that's okay, too! But remember-- once you complete your 30 kisses for a pairing, it goes to someone else, even if you want to do the pairing again with a new list. Be patient!

You can also try to apply the themes to the medium you may not have tried--if you did art, try writing! If you wrote fics, try drawing or making some other form of art! (Yes, everything from wallpapers to icons is accepted, so long as it somehow fits the theme.)

We also accept submissions for new lists, if you're interested.

Finally, you may NOT mix up the lists. Once you reserve a pairing and choose a list, stick with it. Whichever list you start posting from first is the one you have to stay with. You don't have to write for all 30 items-- you can also do art, and vice versa!

The restriction for this list is "proposals." This general/core theme must be found in all ~30 works (be they fics or art) that you submit. If you use this list, make sure to make a note if it when you request your pairing *AND* whenever you post something for that pairing.

The requirement for this list is simple: it's called 30 proposals for a reason, so it's got to have a proposal (as in, for marriage) in there somewhere. Unlike some of the other alternatives, this one can't be "mistaken" for something else (that is, a proposal for a project, or a proposal for a date). You can set it up however you wish, but the general idea of one person asking another to marry him/her has to be in the story somewhere.
Information included in [brackets] is not required of the theme, but you can use it if you wish. Words or phrases separated by semi-colons indicate choice: you may use one of the themes listed, not all of them.
* For Theme #24, the theme means that you should include a flower type and its accepted meaning (for example, the red rose is thought to mean "passion") in your story.
** For theme #30, it's pretty self-explanatory: include the core theme of a proposal without phrasing it as "Will you marry me?"

List Nu/acquisitions
The restriction for this list is "acquisition." The hemes are derived or adapted from Star Trek's Ferengi Rules of Acquisition (but note: your fandom DOES NOT have to have anything to do with Star Trek to use this theme set list!). This list's core theme implies that there will be something "acquired" in each of your submissions. Usually this is a material item, but a service or unexpected something could count as an "acquisition." It's up to you to work the core theme into the following "rules of acquisition!"

As with all theme set lists, the exact words of the theme don't need to appear in your fic/art, but they should be obvious to anyone that reads your fic/views your art. If you use this list, make sure to make a note if it when you request your pairing *AND* whenever you post something for that pairing.

List Xi/instructions
The restriction for this list is "instruction." This list is derived or adapted from H. Jackson Brown Jr.'s book, "Life's Little Instruction Book." The book contains 511 "instructions" or suggestions for living a better life.

Your fics/art must contain a core theme of an "instruction," but not in the sense of a cookbook instruction ("Add 1/4 cup of sugar…") or a teacher's instruction ("Work on your book report"). It's got to be more of an instruction for an extended duration of time, e.g. rules for survival in a certain environment, instructions for how to accomplish a long-term goal, etc. Note, your characters don't actually have to be FOLLOWING those instructions…they can be breaking them, making them, etc. Someone else (a minor character, your narrator, etc.) could be the one suggesting they follow these instructions, whether in the present, in the future, or as a warning to readers (like Aesop in his fables).

The restriction for this list is "law." The themes are derived or adapted from Murphy's Law. This list's theme implies that there will be some sort of "law" or rule in each of your submissions. Usually this is some sort of lesson or caveat to one character, but feel free to use any interpretation you wish. With that in mind, it's up to you to use "law" as you relate it to the following Murphy's Laws. As with all theme set lists, the exact words of the theme don't need to appear in your fic/art, but they should be obvious to anyone that reads your fic/views your art.
