The elder man didn't spare any attention toward his son except to say, "Take Aoko and get to some place safe."
Kaito had to physicaly shake himself before he could even really think of the words to argue, and even then, he could barely get out a single word. "Dad..."
"Go," Toichi ordered once more, this time leaving no room for argument as he continued to hold that arm which continued to push against his hold, threatening to drive its hand deeper into the wound already slowly bleeding around those pale fingers. Despite being the master of Poker Face, this was a kind of strain that couldn't be hidden. Sweat was beginning to appear on Toichi's face, running down in small rivets as his eyes narrowed further in concentrated effort.
And yet, Kaito could only sit there and watch, not able to move. Frozen from more than just the shock and fear of what is going, he tired to get his body to function once more so that he could gather Aoko into his arms, stand, and get to the safest place he could think of. Just as his father had commanded, and yet, no matter what command he sent to his limbs, he couldn't...
"Kaito?" came Toichi's voice, shaking the boy's thoughts away from the growing panic.
"I--I can't move," he said in answer, voice quiet despite how much his heart was racing, though it continued to beat in its quiet, unobtrusive manner.
A curse rose up from the older man, both from the knowledge that his son was still in danger and the the fact that that hand continued to plunge further into his gut.
The white woman's lips turned upward into a smirk. "You're too soft, Toichi," she said with a purr, leaning further against the man, making his face twist as the pain of the injury blossom as she then twist her wrist just slightly. "I've told you this before, haven't I? And I granted your request to allow you to keep an eye over me to be sure those men should never find me.
"But I never promised anything about this child," she whispered, her voice carrying through the dead air without trouble at all. "That you continue to protect him when he challenges me shows that you are not following your part of the bargain, that you will eventually become as the others before you have--"
"You're wrong, Pandora," broke in Toichi in a tense voice, a smile straining to keep its place on his face. "You should know... more than anyone..."
Dark eyes narrowed at him. "In blood, then," the woman of stone stated flatly.
Just as she struck, bringing her body closer to his just as she leaned forward and fangs broke through the skin, puncturing deep into the grown man's neck.
-end of scene-
Short scene today. I'm getting yelled at to be more social even though I'm writing this now to get it out of the way to BE social.
Anyway, ja!
