Kudo-san put a hand to his chin again as he appeared to mull over something. "Well..." he said slowly, catching the attention of the thieves. "There was this one time your father and I--"
"Kudo-san," Toichi said shortly, lowering his hand and allowing a frown to show through, obviously not amused.
Kaito choked a bit on some laughter as well as disbelief.
The novelist looked to the older Kid and said with a bit an amused tone, "It's no use in pretending some slip-ups haven't happened. The boy's surely experienced quite a number of incidents himself--it's in the nature of the vampire, I believe--"
"That does not mean we have to share that particular story with my son," stated the first phantom thief flatly.
The second looked between the two older men. "Oi, if you're just going to be all vague about it, I can just make up my own story," he said before shrugging, shooting a impetulous grin at his father. "As Kudo-san said, I've got plenty of my own 'oops' moments to use in reference."
Toichi place the hand back to his face, looking as if he was nursing an aching head.
Kudo-san, ignoring the other man, merely responded, "I can assure you that it didn't go very far, if you can consider any of that mishap to be anything worth mentioning." He paused for a moment, seeming to be looking back at the memory and studying it for a moment before nodding. "Yes, I was able to stop it before anything could start--"
"Oh?" Kaito asked with over-exaggerated curiosity as he grinned at his father. "So like you said, they can put a stop to it if it's only one-way--"
"There is no way between us," Toichi interrupted, lowering his hand again to give his son a disapproving frown. "It was a long night, after a long time of being without a feeding, and there was... circumstances--"
Kudo-san rose a hand and offered, "I was at home with my wife that night."
Again, Kaito choked, this time in disbelief.
Toichi was looking at the writer out of the corner of his eye, obviously not happy at all with this story being told the way it was. "Yes," he said lightly, as if it didn't bother him at all. "Well, as you can imagine, there were... influences to the situation that did not involve the two of us except for the fact that as a vampire, I was able to... sense--"
Once more, Kudo-san deadpanned, arms crossed, "He had me against the wall before I could get to the bedroom where my wife was waiting."
At that point, Kaito wasn't sure if it was expected of him to laugh outright or to try to keep up his Poker Face just a bit longer. He decided to just snerk again, withholding the loud laugh threatening to break through and simply said, "Don't tell me that he managed to--"
"Oh no," the author broke in, amusement coloring his own voice as well. "As I said, I was able to hold him off. Luckily, I was pinned near a sidetable and was able to threaten him to backing down before anything could happen while my wife was waiting for me in the other room." He gave a shrug. "We were able to keep it to the wrist, as normal for the feedings ever since that first one."
He shot a dirty look over to the thief.
Toichi did not appear moved in the least. "Are we quite finished with all of this now?" he asked instead.
Kudo-san smirked a bit, knowing he'd gotten under the thief's skin.
Kaito raised a hand. "If I can ask," he said before lowering his hand and looking to the novelist. "Just what was it exactly that you threatened him with?"
The other man blinked. "Oh, that?" he asked before glancing to Toichi who just hunched his shoulders as he sighed, resigned to his nemesis and source of blood's need to tell all. "I just showed him a manuscript of mine that was lying about--a story written in case I can ever get him to agree to allow me to write Kaitou Kid going against the Night Baron."
The younger thief blinked. "That's all?"
Kudo-san waved an idle hand in the air, looking to the ceiling as he responded, "Oh, I might have said that I would add a few things here and there--"
"Blackmail is quite unbecoming, Kudo-san," Toichi said in a sour manner.
The mystery writer gave him a bit of a smirk. "Yes, I love you as well, Kid-kun."
