mmmm, it means I need to find us somewhere to live (in one of the most expensive places in Scotland :S) and a new job so that we can afford to stay there. From looking online, £500 pcm will give you a tiny one bedroom/studio flat with tiny kitchen and hardly and seem to be aimed at people who have no *stuff* (ie books, computers etc...).
I can't change the situation, so I just have to go with it and hope things work smoothly...
Ouch. Well damned, hmm. I think situations like that are really unfair. My clinical partner, Claire, she's going to be working in Cambridge, and the cheapest she could get a house for was £900 pcm. She has a partner who is also doing a phd, and he gets a small grant thing, but still. She's going to be earning more than me by far, probably up in the region of 30k for her first year as she has two really intensive jobs out of three (glad I don't have that - one intensive job is enough considering they're all probably going to be intensive as a baseline before you add 'intensive' to them

What does this mean for you??? Especially given your post about how things have been going for you recently?
