christian = believe in god

no actually Christian comes from the word CHRIST, as in Jesus Christ.
So if you are Christian you believe in Jesus, and that he is the savior.
If you aren't Christian, you don't.

If you don't believe that a god exists, then you are atheist.
Unless you are Hindu or Buddhist or something like that.
