Why do television manufacturers have commercials that show on analog, non HD TVs for their "amazing visual quality"? Am I supposed to see how wonderful the picture CAN BE on my old television?
ha ha... i've wondered that, too. especially because i'm watching a DVD and NOT on an HD TV!! am i supposed to be fooled? "but if i HAD HD TV and BluRay, THAT'S what it would look like!! woooow. honey? we need BluRay, stat!!" derrr.
I want to know why the cable companies started compressing the shit out of their standard digital broadcasts and making them look like a youtube video.
I honestly believe that the analog, non-digital, feed is clearer than the digital on my set. I also honestly believe they are doing this so that people see a huge difference in standard and HD and decide they *need* to switch and the cable company gets more money. I'm still sticking with non-HD, sorry.
On a side note? I've got an upconverting DVD player now and wow... movies that were pretty pixelated on the old machine are crystal clear. Without having to go to BRDVD.
