Intro Bandwagon!

For once, I'm actually keeping up with the pack. Go me!

Sholeh gets her (their?) own one, because it is super long and mostly c/p'd from my app. I apologize in advance for how much reading this will entail.

The most important thing to explain here is that Sholeh Zeela a Zhahar is not one person, but three. They are sisters from a race of people called the Tryad and are considered three-in-one: three individual people who happen to share the same body. Only one aspect controls the body at a time (considered to be 'in view'), the other two can either hover close to the surface and can listen and experience sensations, or they can retreat deep within to give the currently dominant aspect a bit of privacy.

(From Bridge of Dreams, pg 27)
A Tryad is three beings who inhabit a core body, which consists of the brain (though the mind is distinct to each), the internal organs, and bones. Height doesn't change and there is no significant difference in weight between the aspects. However there are sufficient differences in muscle and body shape to be noticeable, especially between the strongest and the weakest of the three. Each has a distinct face, and features like the color of skin, eyes, and hair can vary widely. Each has its own personality, its own memories, although they can share an experience to some degree.

One member of the Tryad has a brand on the left arm--a heart within a triangle. This allows them to identify others of their race, since they are never open about their presence in a city.

Only one of them bears the proof of a physical change...Violations like burns or cuts on one have no effect on the other two (it won’t even show on the body). Despite being part of the shared core, a broken bone, if it is a clean fracture, only hobbles the one on whom the injury is afflicted, although the other two experience weakness and pain in that limb and are severely limited in its use. A fever produced in one will weaken the other two to some degree, or they may suffer a minor version of the same illness. However, if a hand is amputated on one, that hand is lost to all three. Interestingly enough, removing the eyes of one of the aspects does not blind the other two. Neither does destroying the eardrums carry over to a loss of hearing in the other two aspects. On the other hand, the teeth and tongue appear to be part of the core, and both if lost in one are lost in all.

There are some exceptions to the above explanations; an injury that is severe enough can linger on the body of a different aspect than the one it was inflicted on. It will not be as bad (a knife wound that required stitches on Zeela was a bone-deep bruise on Zhahar), but it will still be visible and can cause pain, especially if the injured aspect is hovering close to the surface. The other two aspects can stay close to the injured third for support, but it can lead to odd bleed-through effects, like Zeela’s stitches being felt under Zhahar’s skin. Outer clothing and things remain the same; hairstyles may vary, but clothing will stay between one aspect and the next, and things like casts or bandages also remain, though they won’t be necessary.

Food and water consumed by one aspect benefits the body, but only the aspect who is eating or drinking enjoys the taste and experience. That aspect also feels the effects of whatever is ingested first, because the parts of the aspects that aren’t shared need water and nutrition, too. If all three aspects are hungry, only one needs to eat and it will benefit all of them (though the other two will just need to be content with knowing that food has been ingested), but for parts that are individual, they need to be dealt with separately. Thus, baths are really long for them, because each aspect’s surface body is individual. When submerged, each aspect can go into a deep rest, where she does not interact with the others and is mostly unaware of what happens around them. True sleep only comes when all three aspects are at rest and is only needed once every third day.

For the most part, the Tryads are usually born all the same gender, though there are some few, rare mixed-sex births. The aspects usually fall along a mind/body/heart continuum, with one aspect being more physical and aggressive (Zeela), one being more understanding and compassionate (Zhahar), and the last being more cerebral (Sholeh). They are named according to birth order: youngest, middle, [a] eldest. Though they believe they are a race of demons, most Tryads have no special magical gifts; apart from being three sisters sharing one core body, Sholeh Zeela a Zhahar are just ordinary girls with no fancy powers to speak of.

They can talk to each other silently within their own mind; different typological markings show which sister is saying what when they’re speaking internally to one another. Sholeh speaks within ::double colons::, Zeela speaks with =equal signs=, and Zhahar uses *asterisks.* As all communication with them is internal, their conversations would be inaudible to normal people (and thus, NFB), but telepaths would be able to hear everything, people who could see auras or read psychic scents would notice a change as the different aspects came close to the surface. In the book they're from, Bridge of Dreams, another character can feel them as ‘three distinct heart-cores’: a summer storm for Zeela, a calm summer lake for Zhahar, and a brook filled with bright water for Sholeh. However, this ability to inaudibly talk to one another comes only from sharing the same core, and they can't talk to anyone else that way, including other Tryads.

Sholeh, who will be the main aspect here on Fandom, is the youngest of the three and the most sheltered and dependent, even though she’s only a few minutes younger than Zeela and Zhahar. She is bookish, quiet, and shy, though once her curiosity is aroused, she can chatter and babble with the rest of them, as well as being surprisingly fearless when it comes to new experiences. She likes to be useful and often feels the need to prove her worth and value, and has a bit of a stubborn rebellious streak. Sholeh is the thinnest of the three, with auburn hair and green eyes. She also needs to eat light meals frequently, or else she has dizzy spells and feels faint. When faced with something harsh or frightening, her first instinct is to hide, cry, and/or submerge herself behind her sisters. Her PB is Dakota Blue Fanning.

Zeela is the middle sister, and is more muscular and aggressive, with dark brown hair and eyes. She has a scar on her right arm and a brand on her left of a triangle with a heart inside of it. She’s brash and protective of her sisters, and sees herself as the protector of the group. She usually has knives hidden on her person somewhere (her sisters know to leave a knife inside their shared boot) and won’t hesitate to draw one and use it if she thinks they’re in danger. Loud and argumentative, she’d the type who believes in “hit back and hit harder” and can be gruff and impatient. She’s slow to make friends, but once you do, you have a friend for life. Since the sisters come precanon, Zeela is not yet the tough fighter she will become, but if there is a better place to get training than Fandom, I can’t think of any. Her PB is Astrid Berges-Frisbey.

Zhahar is the eldest sister, with brown hair and blue eyes, and is curvier than either of her sisters. She can be fierce when she’s angry, but usually she is calm, compassionate, and loyal to her sisters. She hates seeing injustice done to someone and will stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. She’s hard-working and kind, and wants to make a positive difference in the world--especially in Tryadnea. She is softyer and kinder than Zeela, but far more practical and level-headed than Sholeh. Her PB is Imogene Poots.

So, here’s where things get interesting. While Sholeh would be the ‘public’ face of the Tryad, at least in the beginning, Zeela and Zhahar can surface at any time, as well as hear and see and experience (at least in a limited fashion) the things going on around them. I might post Zeela working out and label it NFB, much like costumed-hero rooftop crawling, or perhaps put Zhahar wandering around the park and everyone who sees her would only know her as a stranger. In a way, it’s a lot like the Jack/Jill scenario, but it happens at will instead of at a specific and inflexible time of the month.

Rather than making people read through all of that, here are a few of the essential bullet-points:

*Sholeh Zeela a Zhahar is not only their names, but also how to refer to all three of them at once.

*Sholeh is the face of the girls at Fandom, at least for now. She is the one who will be in view at almost all time and signing into classes--though some of those classes will be taken at the behest of her sisters. (Kennedy's class, I'm looking at you!)

*Though they share a main core, the girls have different bodies, so scars, makeup, tattoos, face painting, etc belong only to the sister who was in view when it was applied. Injuries that affect the bodies' core (mostly the torso and internal organs) affects all three of them; other, lesser injuries (cuts, burns, broken bones) affect only one of them.

*Zeela and Zhahar can individually choose to stay close to the surface, in order to see and here and have limited experience/interaction with what's going on while Sholeh is in view, or they can choose to submerge themselves more deeply to rest or give her privacy. A submerged sister suffers from sensory deprivation and will have little if any memory of what went on while she was submerged. She also can't be felt or sensed, leading to my next bullet point.

*Because they are three minds in one body, telepaths, witches, psychics, and other magic folks will be able to sense multiple presences if the sisters are close to the surface. The sisters can also talk to one another within their own minds (these conversations can be eavesdropped upon telepathically, but are NFB otherwise). Sholeh speaks within ::double colons::, Zeela speaks with =equal signs=, and Zhahar uses *asterisks.*
