Those who say the past is not dead should stop and smell the smoke

We had to keep an eye on him, that was for damn sure. I nodded at Wes because the only words that seemed to be comin' outta my mouth were 'I'm sorry'. Didn't think either of them wanted another meaningless apology from me, so I just set my lips into a thin line as Wesley turned and headed up the stairs to his bedroom. With a heavy sigh I tilted my ( Read more... )

Days of avoiding each other were staring to get to me. I'd been healing nicely, and much faster then I'd anticipated. Of course that might have something to do with the fact that I wasn't throwing myself headlong into any fights as I had been doing usually. Much to either Gunn or Cordelia's dismay. Or maybe even Angel's though he'd not show it so much. But since both Gunn and Cordy were gone, I couldn't bring myself to go out and look for some vampires or other demons to fight. It just didn't feel right ( ... )

I instantly noticed how tired he looked. Had he not been sleepin'? Hadn't imagined that he got most sleep and since I'd been the ghost haunting this hotel for the last week I pretty much knew his schedule from when I'd pass him in the hallways. Angel remained the mystery, holed up in his room at all hours. Man, I was glad as hell that Wes had survived that little stab wound deal. If it was just me and Angel in this hotel? We would end up killin' eachother without a doubt. Wouldn't have been able to hold out as long as I had been, and it wasn't even like Wes was doin' anything. Just him bein' here was makin' me hold back a little bit ( ... )

Finally finding the book I'd been looking for, I walked back to the desk. My desk. Angel's desk...a desk. Funny how that doesn't matter anymore when at one point I had received death glares for just daring to sit behind it. But that was all in the past now, just as most everything was. Except... well several things, but there was one thing that was niggling at me. One thing I didn't understand ( ... )

"Whoa. For real?" I asked raisin' an eyebrow and takin' another drag from my smoke as he gave me the 411 on this Shoe prophecy thingy. "Angel gets to be a real boy one day?" Man, and there he was upstairs moping his unlife away. Of course, I understood why he was doin' that. He was all bummed cause of his pals and his friends kickin' the bucket. I didn't blame him, I understood. But the fact was? Not all of his friends were dead. Some of us were still alive and we were gonna kind of need him soon. 'Specially if the senior partners showed up here lookin' to throwdown. What was he gonna do? Hide up in his room while Wes and I try to smack 'em down? Fucking hell ( ... )

I agreed with her that it wasn't going to be easy to get Angel out of the hotel. Hell, getting him out of that bloody room was going to be a a difficult task. And then I'm putting it mildly. We were both still alert while we made our way over to the docks. I kept my shotgun at the ready. It may not kill any vampires, but it did enough damage to slow them down. We can't all be Slayers, and some of us need a little aid ( ... )

Angrily I shoved the stake straight up and into the vampire's house, coughing on the dust that managed to make it's way inside of my mouth. Eww. Spitting it out onto the pavement, I sprung up to my feet quickly and looked down at Wes who was trying to get the sniffling and crying girl to stand up. Looking her over it was suddenly easy to see why she'd been in a dark alley in the seedy part of time at night. She was a hooker. No one else wears platform shoes like that. Damn ( ... )

The girl keeps on sobbing and mumbling incoherently for a moment, clinging onto me. I manage to pry her loose, getting her up from the floor. And now that I can take a good look at her, I'm rather shocked. Bad make up, very obvious clothes and far, far to young. Resisting the urge to sarcastically ask where her parents are, I turn back to see if Faith needs any help ( ... )

I raised an eyebrow at Wes when he offered the little cupcake a ride home. What? Couldn't we just shove her in a cab and be done with it? We already saved the day here, why we gotta be playin' bus driver for teenage hookers ( ... )
