If you have not read this book yet… I implore you not to continue..
I very surely will ruin the WHOLE story for you ;-)
And trust me.. in my opinion this was the best one yet.. so you do NOT want it ruined for you!
I really liked the way this book started off… It was different than the others.. didn’t go into as much background so you didn’t feel like you were rereading the last 5 books, which I thought was a great touch in the others in case you didn’t read the previous ones and it set it up as a good reminder, but it was also very nice for a change to not read the summarization of the previous books.
It was very weird… in a good way… to see a Professor outside of Hogwarts. To be made aware that they do not remain at the school at all times. I did think that the chapter about Snape with Narcissa was very mysterious… in the way that you still could not discern whether or not Snape was on Voldemort’s side or Dumbledore’s. It makes you wonder if he is a double agent, a triple agent, or a quadruple agent.
Slughorn wasn’t too bad of a character.. and the twist where they gave Snape the D.A.D.A. and Slughorn took over potions was a nice touch… not what one would expect considering Dumbledore has been denying Snape the DADA job for 5 years at the least..
I love the action between Harry and Draco.. with Harry desperately trying to figure out what Draco is up to… I sincerely felt for Harry when no one took him seriously about the Snape/Draco theories.. If they had only listened to Harry maybe poor Dumbledore would still be alive…
Harry and Ginny.. wow.. I’ve read it a lot in fanfics lately.. but I never actually thought it would end up the book but then again I don’t pay attention to the rumors or anything so I have no idea that that was even a potential… I liked the action between Hermione and Ron a lot in this book. Even though this was a very serious book at parts, I think it was the most entertaining and I found myself laughing out loud to myself several times.. it was absolutely brilliant..
However I didn’t really come close to tears at the end of the book and I think this was largely in part because someone had let slip to me that it was Dumbledore who died in this book and therefore I knew it was somehow coming and throughout the book I had theories of how this was to happen and so it didn’t hit me like a ton of bricks when it happened…
I had a mixture of feelings when it became true that Snape really was double crossing the order of the phoenix and Dumbledore… Poor trusting Dumbledore.. it was unexpected that Snape was really rooting for the Dark Lord but doesn’t make it any less infuriating.
I am very curious now to find out who R.A.B. is and I might do some investigating into the other books to see if it could perhaps be a previous unimportant character that I may have overlooked… I can not wait for the next book and will be extremely sad when this series ends. I think I somehow grow too attached to my books sometimes.
My imagination is too overactive. Overall I think this book was absolutely more than I could put into words.. I will probably read it once more and maybe even twice just to take it all in and be able to point out more interesting things.. I wish I could remember more of the stuff from the book that I wanted to point out but I am afraid my brain will not comply…
