"You look awful Me. Sniper?" Cassidy had seen him and, concerned medic she was, came over. "have the doctors said how much longer before you fully recover?"
"Too long," Sniper returned, his eyes trailing as he was addressed. He vaguely recalled the voice: the dog-eared girl from the communicator. There was half a second where he'd forgotten the ears entirely, though one glance at her brought them back to his mind. Even stranger was she seemed to have a tail, as well.
He tried to keep the disbelief from his face, rubbing his eyes in the hopes that he was just imagining the extra parts. "I, er. Right. Cassidy, isn't it?"
Cassidy smiled, though it was a bit sympathetic too. Her tail swished back and forth slightly, and she was not paying his reaction any mind. "I'm sorry to hear that you won't be out very soon, but I can give you some painkillers that won't knock you out as badly."
"Thanks, uh... ma'am." He pushed his working fingers under his glasses again, finally deciding that the ears weren't some kind of hallucination. While they'd looked fairly realistic on the phone, he'd still thought they were some kind of an elaborate costume; however, now that he was aware Paradise indeed had talking animals and dragons and such, who was he to say the girl's animal appendages weren't genuine, as well?
That didn't help the fact he was uncomfortable. He averted his eyes to keep from gawking. "Actually, if you've got anything that would knock me out, that's preferable. The less I have to see of that hospital room, the better."
"I can do that too. Hospitals are a little depressing to be in aren't they? I prefer recovering at home." She was trying to not let him feel too awkward. It was surprising how few people dealt with nonhumans...to her anyway.
"Right. I'd've gone home a long time ago if they'd let me." Not that he thought he could make it back to his townhouse on his own, though he expected Ringo could help him there. Drag him along in the wheelchair or something. The real problem would've been all the other tasks that were nearly impossible when he was so injured, like eating and dressing himself.
Soon. The nurses had said his hand ought to be recovered by the next month. Then he'd be perfectly capable of handling himself, he was sure of it.
RED caught himself staring again. Though it did seem to be a breach of etiquette in his mind, he expected a girl with such unusual features probably got questions about them on occasion. No real harm in asking, he supposed. "Forgive me if I'm bein' impolite, but just what are you, exactly?"
She definitely asn't too surprised by the question and simply folded her hands in front of herself after smoothing her skirt. "It's fine, I've been getting used to it. I'm a type of demon."
Sniper tried so hard not to see the obvious. Then again, simply having a conversation with a so-called 'demon' was pushing the boundaries of his belief.
Sniper pushed another pretzel into his mouth, staring in spite of politeness dictating he not do so. He finally tore his eyes away, deciding he had no other choice but to believe what she said. Okay, so she was a demon dog... person. With ears and a tail. This place supposedly had dragons and he'd seen a talking raccoon on the communicator, so she probably wasn't the oddest sheila in Paradise.
And the more he thought about it, the more it occurred to him that said thought wasn't a comfort at all. "Wait, so is that what some of these talking animal blokes I've seen around are, then?"
