While the drugs (and alcohol- can't forget about the alcohol) lulled Sniper into an odd state of relaxation he'd not thought possible in such a social setting, he still found himself capable of being surprised as he was approached again. He'd known it was a bad idea to be dragged there in a wheelchair. It drew attention to him, and therefore people. At least most seemed to be bothering him out of some semblance of kindness- that was more than he'd have done in their positions.
His eyes turned to the kid who approached him, recognizing him (or was it a girl? Frankly, with talking animals and kids, it was hard to tell sometimes) from across the room. Sniper had felt eyes on him for some time, and caught the kid watching him at a glance. At least the question seemed innocent enough. "I'm not alone, believe it or not. I was brought here by the girl over there, the one wobbling around a bit as she tries to dance."
It really didn't help that his voice could easily be called feminine.
Looking around until he spotted the girl in question, Ion smiled absently and nodded, turning his attention back to the man in the wheelchair. "I'm glad that you aren't here by yourself," he said honestly.
"I believe I just said that, yes," Sniper said, holding back a far more sarcastic response. The kid didn't seem dumb- just a bit overly concerned, from the sound of it. While such concern usually grated on the RED, he felt he could try to be a hair nicer to the lad (... or lass? Bloody hell, what kind of a world was it where he couldn't hardly tell the difference?).
Ion had been watching him out of concern for some time now and finally decided to come and ask him. "Your injuries seem to be severe."
