Fresh Air

Who: RED Sniper (hasstandards), Teriyaki, and anyone who feels like bothering him in the park (and yes visitors, that means you, too!)
When: Noon
Where: Park, southwest quadrant of Paradise
Rating: Probably PGish
Summary: Feeling well enough to get out of RED base and into the cold air, RED has taken his Pyro's dog to the park. He could use some time outside, anyway.

Sniper tossed the ball a third time, watching the puppy bound into the snow after it to catch it and bring it back again. With all the time he'd spent indoors in the past few months, RED had been itching to get outside more often. Usually, his health stopped him- and if he was honest, it should have stopped him again, the cold air burning his lungs, his leg still too sore to support him. Even so, stubborn determination won out: using the dog as an excuse, he'd grabbed his crutches and headed for the park. Though only a short distance from RED base, the walk was still enough to wear him out, especially when he'd been feeling under the weather.

Well, not as under the weather these days as he had been, given how things were going with Pyro. While he maintained himself as unchanged by her presence, he knew better. Admitting it aloud was still a challenge, one for which he didn't have a plan and therefore had no idea how to handle. They had expressed themselves in the most intimate of ways, passion and feelings reciprocated in secret. At the time, he'd gone with his instincts; away from her, he had time to think, wondering if he was really doing the right thing.

He sighed as Teriyaki brought the ball back; Sniper took it and tossed it again, farther this time. Of course he wasn't doing the right thing. She was nearly half his age. A teammate. He was supposed to support her, as was his job, but... this was something entirely different. Worst was he was struggling to find more reasons to oppose it, to stick to his standards despite his inclination to cave to her every whim. He was a professional, a grown man, too old to be letting himself be controlled by some feelings over a girl.

And yet that was exactly what he was doing. Without his job, his mind had turned to focus on other things, searching for that stability in life he so craved. She was the one who had been there for him the entire time, inching her way past his barriers. Each day that passed only made it stronger. The more he tried to deny it, the clearer it became: he was absolutely and utterly infatuated with her.

Teriyaki returned again, hopping up and pawing at his master's legs as he dropped the ball into his lap. Sniper winced as the pup hit his knee, grabbing the ball and throwing it a fifth time, sending the puppy tearing across the park. He sighed again- at least with the dog, he had an excuse to get outside and clear his head, though it wasn't doing much good these days.
