Feeling the heat, Sammie was glad she had her hat on. Re-adjusting it to shade more of her face she looked around, and began to make her way to the little grove. Hat or not, she wanted out of the sun.

Once reaching the grove she went straight for the lake side, she was thirsty and want to drink. She stopped as she got to the edge, someone else was there. Turning she looked at the man under the tree, staring at him hard.

"...BLU?"

"Heya!" He looked over, smiling softly. "If ya came out t' do any fishin' you'll have to find another spot. This one is mine. An' not real good it looks like."

He tugged on the line, testing it, but still no bites. With a shrug he looked back down to his carving, pulling out a smaller knife to work some finer details.

Sammie was more than a little taken aback by the open friendliness, but approached him anyway.

"Fishin'?"

She looked out at the line and the water.

"Daddy, used'ta say that catchin' fish only ruins th'fishin' experience. S'all about the relaxation then th'fish. Mind if I sit with ya?"

"Reckin' that's not a bad philosophy. Though it's a mite hard t' eat the experience." He nodded towards her. "Go roight ahead."

With each stroke of his knife the bird he was carving took shape, feathers falling into place to depict an incredibly detailed kookaburra. As it turned out, BLU had more skills than just sniping.

She shrugs as she kneels down next to him.

"He's a sheep farmer, doens't hafta worry about fish f'dinner"

She watches him carve with curious wide eyes, even so much as to make an awed sound at his skill, she had always loved kookaburras.

She leaned in a little to watch him more.

"Well I ain't a sheep farmer, so I do. " He took a few more strokes before holding it out to inspect it. "S'not bad. She'll loike it."

He smiled down at the carving before tucking it back against his palm and starting to carve again.

"She? She who?"

She tilted her head at him, then goes back to watching him carve. As much as she wanted to know, she was far more fascinated with watching him carve.

"Brandy. She's been wantin' a bird so, next best thing." Sammie might even note that without his gloves on he has a silver wedding band on his left hand.

"Already got a dog an' two cats. We'll be havin' a zoo soon enough I reckon."

"Brandy..."

She repeated the name more to herself, looking at the ring, then back up at his face.

"Hey. What year is it again? It's just I've been out in th'sun all day. M'brain get's a bit funny, y'know?"

As much as Samantha respected the privacy of her Sniper friends. If she had made her way into his dream... Or was just dreaming that she was, she wanted to see at least how much she could find out about him.

"What can I say? I get a bit dopey in th'sun"

She was surprised, she would have been only 15. Not only that but he was happy and smiling, and from all accounts, very much in love.

"Are kookaburra's her favourite?"

"Maybe you should stay in th' shade then." He turned the carving over and over in his hands. "Yep. She heard somewhere you can teach 'em t' talk so now she's all eager t' get one. And probably teach it t' fly around and insult th' neighbors."

Sammie couldn't help but laugh at the image.

"That's kinda cute actually. So, what's she like, Brandy?"

She scooted a little closer, like a child waiting to hear a facinating story.

He smiled fondly, looking off at the lake, his eyes taking on a far off, distant quality. "She's aces mate. She'd be out here with me today if she wasn't workin'. Works too hard she does." He frowned momentarily before brightening up again. "I'm a lucky bloke."

Samantha smiles widely at the other BLU sniper, giving a slow nod. Starting to feel like she was a minor character in some whirlwind romance novel, and loving it.

"Y'really are, luv."

She pet his shoulder in a congratulatory manner, still smiling wide.

"What's she do?"

"She works at one of them shops that sell gifts t' tourists. Stuffed koalas an' kangaroo belts an' all that." If ever anyone needed a snowglobe that rained wombats, Sniper here could hook them up. But Brandy liked working there and meeting people, and with how cheerful she was it was the perfect job for her.
