partnering skills

For various reasons, we ended up coming back a day early from our vacation - on Thursday instead of Friday.  So I said, HEY, I'M GOING SKATING!!! and I did.  Skated for over 2 hours and had a blast.  I didn't expect to get a lesson, since I'd told DB that I'd be out of town, but my space had not been filled by anyone else, so I got one anyway.  Yay ( Read more... )

We finished up with another one of his made-up moves, which is 3 cross strokes and then on the 3rd one you do a complete circle, in crossover position, with the knees deeply bent

That's not a made-up move - it's taught by the Ice Theatre of New York and Jimmy Young (who either taught or trained, I forget which, at the same rink as John Curry, so it's obviously an exercise that was done that that rink).

I try and do it every session; also try doing it from inside edges (just do plain inside edges, not crosses), and back cross-rolls (impossible!) or plain back outside and inside edges. It's seriously good for your cross-rolls and edges, which is why I do it so much.

Evil foxtrot hold - yes, it's very hard on the lady's L shoulder. Wait till you get to the Blues - that really hurts!

That BI3 FI3 exercise is hard, it's impressive that you're making so much progress with it!
