Hawke. Dwarf. Your companion is among the living.

[That's... not Anders' voice. It's something else entirely.[Who knows how long Anders has been back. Long enough for Justice to regain his memories. And... take over. The spirit has no desire to be stuck in a nervous, memory-blank shell. So he's jumped into the driver's seat ( Read more... )

[...oh, good. Big blue and crazy is out.]

When wasn't he among the living?

[Also go away Justice. Let Anders back out.]

Can we expect to see him any time soon, then?

And we're back again to all those questions that are still unanswered. You can shout about not waiting, but what's your plan? Charging off to dole out punishment isn't always the best path to justice. Especially not here.

You've seen how long it takes them sometimes. Past experience says to wait, and they'll do something about it.

[Justice stop making him argue in favor of not doing anything to the woman he'd be happy to see locked away some where. He just wants his mage buddy back.]

And what does a dwarf who killed his own brother know of justice?

[Ouch. Low blow, Justice. This is why everyone like Anders more than you.]

You say that as though it's going to bother me. You saw what he did to his own men. Didn't they deserve justice?

Killing him prevented him from hurting more people, or himself. He wasn't just going to pop back up in a few days with no memories.

Do you really believe it was entirely your brother's fault? That the lyrium played no part?

You claim to know of justice, yet your ideas are addled and blind.

Yeah, yeah. I am but a confused mortal with no ideals, and you are the all mighty and pure spirit of Justice. I know.

I'm not going to argue with you about who deserves justice and who doesn't. The point about the woman who did this still stands.

And Blondie would still be better off if you'd let him come back out for awhile.

Are you so certain you wish to speak with your mage?

See, when you ask questions like that, it just makes me suspicious.

But yeah. I'm certain.

[There's silence.]

[And then it's Anders' voice. Sobbing. Half-screaming. He sounds as if he's gone completely mad. And, to him, he has.]

[There's another voice in his head. He doesn't understand what's going on. He keeps blacking out, and it feels like something is crawling around under his skin.]

[Ah, crap. Varric switches over to audio, now.]

Blond - Anders, can you hear me? I need you to calm down.

[Yeah, Varric is blaming Justice for this. Or at least, part of this.]

[He has no memory and there's an angry voice in his head. He must be crazy.]

[That thought is terrifying.]

Calm... Calm? I... I don't know...

[Well. At least he's not locked in some corner of his mind with a crazy spirit controlling his body. That's an upside, right?]

You can do it. Just ignore Justice. We all do usually, you might as well join the rest of us for the moment.

[... well. Sort of.]

I don't -- I don't know what you're...

Who are you?

Varric. I know you don't remember me right now, but I'm a friend.

Justice would be that cranky guy in your head.

I've... I'm mad.

No, you're not.

Well, yeah, actually, you pretty much are. But not in the way you're probably thinking. He's a spirit, not just some voice you hear because you're loony.
