But it's hardly worth the hasty glance he gives the room number, because... of course this is the right room. He knows exactly where Sofia's room is, he's been there enough times.

"Alex, we should look for her. Ask other people. Ask the mirrors. To make sure."
He's not exactly desperate to find Sofia hiding in a closet somewhere, but Alex looks so upset.

But where do they start? Her room is bare. That only ever means one of two things.
"Maybe... maybe she'll come back."
Even though people who come back always seem to do so at a later point in their lives.
Even though, such a long time ago now, she mentioned that she had no such later points.
