By the second day of the event, Alex is... preoccupied. And since part of the event involves not noticing your own strange behaviour, instead of getting paranoid and second-guessy about it, he's reaching for the communicator.

To send a closed but unlocked message to a suddenly very popular physicist.

"Philip. You, uh... surviving all right?"

The results of Philip's meeting with Evelyn are still pending. Whatever the outcome, it seems it wasn't enough to put him on his toes high enough to be wary of the incoming message.

He interrupts his cautious sampling of the local cuisine and offers his greetings.

"It's probably as nice a change as we're going to get."

He laughs. And yet he doesn't trust his own words, at least not completely.

"Um, why are you asking? Is everything okay?"

It's one frown short of suspicion. He doesn't remember Alex ever asking a question like that during some of the worse events, so the inquiry certainly isn't received without curiosity.

It's a weird relief to see that Philip's okay. Not that Alex had any reason to suspect he'd be in more trouble than anyone else, but... still. It's good to know for sure! Because you know, people keep disappearing, but so long as Philip's here that might be enough.

Which is why this:

"Yeah. It's fine."

Is not 100% true, but is still more genuine than Philip's probably heard it sound before.

It also has a hint of surprise, because that's as much of a shock to Alex as it is to everyone else.

He nods and nods and nods and-- right.

"...Did you, um... did you want something?"

Philip currently has two theories about that. For the sake of one of them he's making the question sound as casual and friendly as possible.
