» background: Yoko grew up in a poor, rural town in the southeastern section of Repoire. For the most part, the town was secluded from other towns and didn't have much to offer in terms of trade, but they were incredibly self-sufficient, living off their own farmland and natural resources. Yoko herself was raised as a hunter after demonstrating a remarkable amount of skill in aim and accuracy during childplay and took on the responsibility with glee. By the time she was nine, the town considered her the best sharpshooter around, and the community had agreed to give her access to their strongest, most versatile, albeit most difficult weapon to use. It took her a year or two to completely master it, but didn't find much time to put it to good use as the town was soon burned down beyond repair. The residents were split up as they fled for safety, leaving most of what they had behind. To this day, the arsonist is still at large. Yoko was stranded by herself and her gun without her family or friends, stuck in the strange unfamiliar city of Teleor. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she begun a life of her own.

The next few years Yoko spent travelling north, never staying in one place for long enough to associate with it. No one really knows why she didn't try harder to settle down in one town, but she claims that none of them had what she was looking for. During this nomadic phase, she sustained herself merely through the skills and knowledge she learned in her hometown. She filled her free time with reading and doing the odd job here and there in order to buy the books she read, usually giving the used books to others once she was finished with them.

At 22 years of age, she finally found what she was looking for: the newly reorganized Dai-Gurren guild. Even though she thought that the leader was brash and idiotic, she found that the guild's general atmosphere of family-like closeness reminded her of home. She joined without a second thought.

A year later, she felt that something was still missing in her life. To fill this void, she took control of an abandoned barn nestled between the borders of Raserun and Teleor, completely renovated it by herself to make it into Konohana School, where families pay her to teach their children reading, writing, and arithmetic. To prevent having star-struck students regarding her as the famous sniper Yoko, she assumed the alias of Miss Yomako, as well as changing her appearance. For the most part, she keeps her Yoko and Yomako identities seperate, keeping the secret between herself and only the higher-ups of the Dai-Gurren guild.

» personality: Yoko is a spunky, no-nonsense, steadfast, selfless woman, with looks to kill and a really big gun to do it with if you dare mention it. She keeps a straight face in every situation...or tries to at least. Along with being a very strong individual, she's also a strong team player, taking on her duties without question or hesitation, or even taking up unassigned tasks without having to be asked to. She also has times where she takes on the role of the mother hen, but usually only after the battle is fought and won.

Yomako is the perfect image of a lovable teacher. Most of her students look up to her like a mother figure because of her ability to be consistent and understanding. She has had several troublesome kids before, and they all came out of her class better people with her direction. She always has a smile on her face and is almost impossible to visibly anger--she has her own unique way of dealing with issues, and the instigator usually walks away from the situation with the proverbial egg on his or her face.

» abilities: Yoko is skilled with pretty much any kind of long-range weapon, although she prefers the sniper rifle she was given when she was a kid. In combat, she hangs behind to take out enemies who might be attempting a sneak attack on those in front. However, she doesn't have much upper body strength, and doesn't do very well in hand-to-hand combat, even if she will resort to it if she has to.

Oh, and she chucks a mean piece of chalk.

» appearance/weapon: As mentioned earlier, Yoko has one dangerous body with wide hips, a tiny waist...and "busty" doesn't even begin to do her justice. All of this is comes with long, flowing, bright red hair and gentle but passionate goldenrod eyes. What she wears depends on where she is and what she's doing.

As Yoko (detail) (color) she typically wears a black and red flame-decal bikini top, dark purple/brown jacket with orange flames on the sleeves and the Dai-Gurren emblem on the back, black hotpants and white thigh-high boots. She always has her hair up in a ponytail with hairsticks.

Her weapon looks much like a dark blue Barrett M82. It's slightly longer than she is tall and is pretty heavy, but she handles it like a pro. It's capable of using a variety of ammo, including high-power electric blasts, arrows, high-caliber bullets, and squishy ("uranium") bullets. It has a pink adjustable strap for easy transportation.

As Yomako (detail) (color) she sports a traditional teacher's skirt-suit, dark grey tie, wireframe glasses, and wears her hair down.

» changes from canon:

*Instead of growing up underground, she grows up in an isolated town.

*All we know from the canon about her childhood is that she was forced out of her underground village because of a poison gas leak. The AU equivalent is the fire.

*Being seperated and adventuring on her own is the equivalent of when she does so soon after Kamina City is established.

*The school she teaches at is on an island in the canon instead of on the mainland. I don't know if this is significant, but the island name, Konohana, stays as the school name.

*In the canon, she doesn't switch between Yoko and Yomako on a regular basis.

» other: None!
