Title: Jigsaw Puzzle
Fandom: Inspector Morse
Rating G
Summary: Morse doesn't talk to Lewis about things much.

Morse tended to be rather tight-lipped about his past.

Lewis didn’t mind it. Some people were like that, just not big sharers, like. It only mattered when Val would ask him things about if Morse had a family or how long he’d been in the service and Lewis couldn’t answer because he didn’t know.

Though when she wanted to know what they should give him for a Christmas present, Lewis was able to tell her all of Morse’s favourite beers. Morse was very good at communicating that.

Sometimes, little bits came out though. They’d be working and Morse would mention something, something quite random. If Lewis tried to get details, Morse would shrug it off if he was in a good mood or growl if he was in a bad one and Lewis always knew to let it go.

He remembered it though. He remembered that Morse found magicians in carnivals worrying and that he’d once investigated something in a girl’s school with Max DeBryn that had made Max sad and that he disliked both mazes and tigers.

Lewis wasn’t sure what all those things meant. Maybe they didn’t mean anything. But he remembered them and he kept them in his mind like they were bits of a jigsaw puzzle that one day, he might just manage to put together.

One day, he might just solve the mysteries of Morse.

Title: More Data Required
Fandom: The Demon Headmaster
Rating G
Summary: Dinah, Lloyd and Harvey discuss the Headmaster sometimes.

“Do you think he’s still out there?”

Funny, Dinah thought. All those years and she still knew exactly who Lloyd meant when he said “he.”

“He’d be pretty old, right?” Harvey said. “I mean, he must have been old then. He didn’t look young ... I mean, everyone looks old when you’re young ... ”

“Purple poppinjays, you’re still young!” Lloyd said with a snort.

“No, you’re old,” Harvey said. “Did you think the Headmaster looked old?”

Dinah wasn’t sure. He’d looked ... well, like the Headmaster. Not old or young, just himself. She didn’t know if that was her age at the time or just because it was the Headmaster ...

“Do you think he even could die?” Lloyd muttered. “Don’t you have to be human to die?”

Dinah had wondered that a lot over the years. She’d done a bit of research, in her spare time but she’d never found proof of anything else with powers. Just him. She wasn’t sure what to make of it but she did know you couldn’t decide anything without more data. In the end, there was no way to find out without finding him again and she really didn’t want to do that. She hoped that he was gone.

“It’s cool though,” Harvey said brightly. “I could just hit him now. I’m a grown up. Lloyd’s probably taller than him now.”

Lloyd laughed and Dinah laughed too and put it all out of her head.

Some things weren’t worth thinking about for too long.
