"Licia, I'm not joking around!"

"Neither am I," she replied, her eyes fixed in that look she got whenever she was being particularly stubborn, the one that made her look even more like a tiny goat, "This is an important question that science owes it to me to find the answer to. Although, I probably can't eat a world myself, so I'll need to interview the Bionis..."

"Licia, we're supposed to be evacuating before we're eaten too!"

"What do YOU think a world tastes like, Rie? Personally, I imagine it will be too many flavours at once, and actually be quite unpleasant. There's such thing as too complicated a meal, you know..."

"Licia, you're in particular danger here! All the other demons in the city became Telethia!"

She yawned, "Oh, that's just pure-blooded demons. ... The inbred idiots!"

"And you're not a full demon?"

"How else do you think I look so unintimidating and have tiny horns?"

"I... thought that was because you were young?"

"My older sister said my dad was a sheep, but I think that's just her being mean," she said, "I'm probably a quarter human or something," then she frowned, "I guess my sister's a Telethia, now, though."

"We don't know for certain they can't be changed back. Shulk's going to fight for us all," promised Rie, embracing her partner tenderly, "Please, for me, so I can be with you, and for her, so she can find you when she's back to normal... can we head to Colony Six now?"

"Okay," she replied in a surprisingly small voice. Then, seconds later, she piped up, "Seriously, though, do you think tofu actually counts as a constituent of the world?"

Upon reflection, a stock market trader hadn't been the best disguise in the world. He knew as much about trading as he did about, say, pig farming, or opera singing, or all the other jobs he'd never had in his lifelong career as an interplanetary cop. Still, he wasn't sure what else he was going to disguise himself as in a building where absolutely nobody except traders went. The janitors were robots, the security was automated, even the eye candy receptionist was an android.

"Don't worry," his Captain had told him on the trip down to the planet, "The holotapes will catch you up on the basics. You don't have to be disguised as a trader who's any good! Besides, that guy tends to change the rules of wherever he infiltrates. Makes them more childish, less sane, more about himself. He's just a really nasty type of kid, in the end. Don't let that make you underestimate how dangerous he is, though."

"I've heard the rumours."

"They're all true, and worse. Be prepared for complete chaos."

Fandom 38: The Witcher/Okami
Title: White Wolf
Rating: PG-13/Gen
Characters: Geralt, Shiranui
Words: 315
Summary: The villagers hire a Witcher to do something about Orochi and his lupine herald.
Tags: sexual allusion, alcohol

The wolf definitely didn't seem like an ordinary animal. Neither did he sense any malevolence in its actions. It was following the sacrifice closely, unnoticed, but hadn't attacked her or prevented her from doing anything. So far, the Witcher had no reason to believe the wolf was really a servant of this Orochi, other than the villagers' insistence that the two were often seen at around the same time. This 'Orochi', which was definitely very much hostile, looked like some kind of mutated draconid or maybe a Kayran that had adapted to live in mountain caves for some reason - unless it really was something new, belched out of the Conjunction or accidentally (he hoped) created by magical researchers.

It was weak to booze, allegedly. It made a change from Geralt having to drink the booze. And there was a real maiden to sacrifice, so he didn't need to dress up again, like the last fiasco. He wondered if the lady was interested in sacrificing her virginity to him after all this was over, seeing as it wouldn't be necessary to placate much uglier creatures.

He really hoped he would be able to leave the wolf be. He'd had to kill wolves before, mostly when the disrupted magical currents of the lands made them uncharacteristically homicidal. He avoided it wherever possible - it was needless and very bad luck when the totem of his own Witcher fighting style was a wolf. White wolves were particularly rare, usually only seen in the Skellige Isles. This one was enormous. It also moved with very deliberate purpose he'd never seen before in an animal. When he lifted his medallion towards the wolf, it glowed bright enough to give him a headache and its vibrations almost pitched it out of his hand.

He wondered if putting the booze in a Kayran trap would work. He'd need a big one.

Fandom 39: Ace Attorney/Shining Wisdom
Title: Fey Court
Rating: PG-13/Gen
Characters: Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Mia Fey, minor OCs
Words: 300
Summary: The two best lawyers are assigned to both defend and prosecute in the trial of the Fairy of Gudo Valley.
Tags: major Shining Wisdom spoilers, minor Ace Attorney spoilers, mentions of character deaths

"Your Honour, I believe this to be a relevant exceptional circumstance," insisted the spiky-haired young lawyer.

"What is it now?" the Prosecutor in the fancy tie glared at his rival, "If you make up random things again, the Judge will know - its your final warning!"

"Because you have the slightest clue how to handle a case like this either..." the lawyer growled.

"Order in the court!" yelled the bailiff, who was a dragon, because of course he was.

Phoenix Wright sighed, "Normally, it would be unthinkable for, er, the Fairy to bring anyone back from the dead she wanted. There'd be chaos! But this is a special occasion. There shouldn't have been a sleeping demon awoken by dark elves in the first place, and this brave young man gave his life to save the entire world! None of this was his fault and he should never have been in this position. Surely he deserves a fresh start, a second chance to live a normal life!"

"That's nonsense and you know it. The Fairy knew well what was imprisoned down there, she knew that hostile parties existed and were plotting something. Heroes die in the line of duty all the time, it's part of their tragic destiny! To revive just one is plain favouritism!"

"You... don't show favouritism to someone who literally saved the world? What kind of a..."

"The very cycle of life and death could have been disrupted. Zombies in the streets. No one individual is worth that," barked Edgeworth.

"He does know that isn't how the cycle of life and death works, right?" whispered Maya.

In the end, the Fairy was still found guilty but, due to the lawyer's careful manipulation of events, her sentence was mitigated to deportation and imprisonment. Well, you can't win them all.

Fandom 40: Valkyrie Profile/Phantasy Star II
Title: Simulacra
Rating: PG-13/Het
Characters: unrequited Lezard Valeth/Lenneth
Words: 336
Summary: Lezard clones a Valkyrie. It goes wrong.
Tags: minor spoilers, creepy stalker

"But you have to help me! This is technically your fault!"

"HOW is this my fault, Lezard Valeth?" she sighed, too dumbfounded by his arrogance and stupidity and the sheer absurdity of the situation to even be particularly angry at him.

"I did this whole thing for you..."

"Without asking me, because you knew full well that I'd never let you do something like this..."

"But you leave me no choice! Nothing I do ever satisfies you! You don't even glance in my direction!"

"I cannot possibly imagine what would put me off," she rolled her eyes.

"At... at least don't let that thing run amok! You can't possibly be spiteful enough to let it endanger everyone else just to get at me!"

"In other words, you are planning to use civilians as shields."

"I'm serious, that thing has nothing in its soul but murderous hatred!"

"How did you even manage to get inside a soul and..." she sighed and shook her head, "Okay, we are going to destroy this foul creation of yours. You will fight alongside of me. You will work hard to fix your own mistakes."

"So I'm qualified to be your Einherjar after all?"

"NO, Lezard, it means that you are going to put your own life on the line and actually fight alongside me, not hide behind me..." she turned and inspected the mage, "Although, I am curious as to how you would react to the military discipline of Valhalla."

"I promise I shall serve you well, my Lady Valkyrie!" he bowed with an elegant flourish that somehow seemed mocking.

Yet again, she resisted the urge to stab him.

Honestly, though, she thought to herself, who even thought about cloning a Valkyrie, and how would you even botch it badly enough to separate out the part of herself that was a pure killer, a weapon of Odin capable of anything, into one body with nothing else to balance it out and stop it going berserk?"

Still cursing, she spread her wings.
