For somebody who doesn't know anything about cars, I sure do know a lot about cars...!

Some people have a knack. I envy that.

I wouldn't call it a "knack" so much as I've driven SOOO MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES, none of them brand new. My dad's been a used car salesman since I was, I dunno, twelve? My job used to be "testing" out vehicles after they came from the auction. He'd write me a permit on a temporary plate and I'd drive the car for a week or two and then let him know if it was doing anything weird. Usually he even gave me commission if I managed to sell the vehicle (or at least generate interest) while I was out doin' my thing. Pretty convenient, but also I've had just about EVERY KIND OF CAR PROBLEM you can get, resulting in my learning to identify various problems by noises and quirks. And I can explain how a lot of stuff works on a car, even though there's very little I know how to do when it comes to fixing the problems. (Temporary fixes don't count...I've mastered that skill, for sure ( ... )

That's very cool. I have had a lot of old vehicles and I learned each one's quirks, but there are so many things that can go wrong with a car, there's still a lot I don't know. Especially on newer cars.

The newest car I've had was a 2001 (I think?) so I'm probably not very good with new cars either. Maybe, though. Not a whole lot has changed except the addition of little luxuries, like power windows and air conditioning. Hoses will always be hoses, tires will always be tires, and so forth, ya know?
