Even when we work standup, we don't usually practice takedowns while rolling, but then ancient wrestling mats can hurt to fall on, and the fact that we often have a nice gap between them that reforms 5 minutes after they're pulled apart might have something to do wtih it ;-).

And I've always been more a fan of koshi garuma, Easier to take into scarf hold...

tai otoshi and osoto gari are easier to follow into a straight arm bar... and I always prefer the subs

True, but against some of the people I'd be against in my weight class (Super Heavyweight), I could be giving up 50-150 lbs. Tai otoshi has a risk of the guy falling on your leg if you mess up, and it's hard to off balance a much bigger person for O Soto Gari.

But then, it's also been 3 years since I've worked judo, and the only person associated with our school who knew Judo is a significant distance away (Megaton). Only local judo school is also a karate school, which teaches one Judo class per week, and if you're lucky, they may drop the price for that 1 class (90 minutes) weekly, to like $60/mo.

Although I'm also the one who likes the theory of single leg into O Uchi Gari...

Andre Arlovski wore a fanged mouthpiece in his last UFC appearance. It made him look like a wild man. Even more so than he already does that is.

yeah, but his was cooler than this one... it had teeth and fangs... this one just has fangs... and a silly logo in the gap

of course unlike arlovski I'm told I'm always smiling when I roll so the fangs might help :)
