I support this!

Also, remember, learning new habits sounds easy, but our bodies like their continued patterns. If you slip one morning, don't beat yourself up about it; it's not a failure. Just do your best to get back to plan the next day.

Also, may I recommend the Couch to 5k (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) plan? Their advice is very good, too:

"It's easy to get impatient, and you may feel tempted to skip ahead in the program, but hold yourself back. Don't try to do more, even if you feel you can. If, on the other hand, you find the program too strenuous, just stretch it out. Don't feel pressured to continue faster than you're able. Repeat weeks if needed and move ahead only when you feel you're ready." <-- this is very good advice. You really have to listen to your body, not what you THINK your body "SHOULD be able to do, dammit." That's a good way to get yourself a muscle tear or worse -- I've seen it happen. lol ( ... )

I believe that learning new habits is kind of like a skill. There's no skill you can practice to become better at changing what you do (except maybe self-assertiveness-towards-self / willpower, maybe) - but for any change, it will be easier and stick better if you practice it. ^_ ( ... )

Of course you have to practice it; that's why you get up and get back on track the next day. But it doesn't do any good if you sleep through your alarm or something one day to call it a failure and beat yourself up about it -- it's not productive. Does that make sense?

About food, that would depend. I would eat after the shower, myself, but if you find yourself getting lightheaded during the exercise, I would eat something very small and light, preferably with protein and carbs in it, and then have a get-you-through-to-lunch meal after the shower.

Ah, yes! It makes sense. Sorry, I was meaning more to agree with you, but probably could have expressed myself better.

Do you have any suggestions for something very small and light with protein and carbs? Perhaps some sort of homemade granola bar with a bit of cashew butter on top? Though granola + [x]nut butter sounds a bit heavy. You are the light eater and food-knowing-person thingie, so I humbly ask you for either suggestions, or help figuring out how to google such information. :)
