Quoting myself form the Psych Prejudice/Hate course forums, figured I'd share.

I think that to say "revenge won't make a person feel better" isn't particularly accurate. For those of a particular mindset, it probably wouldn't, and maybe as more time passes after the fact of the vengeful act, that mindset might fit in. However, I've witnessed far ( Read more... )

I wanted to focus more on the kind of cosmic believing that humans, as a whole, were beyond the help of us and that we need some sort of messianic figure, be it God or anything else, to 'deliver' us. It might be said that I believe technology can provide the tools by which we can improve ourselves and improve the meliorable aspects of our being - but I consider that simply to be using tools of human make, a product of human effort.

But, yes. :) I like the taste of that thoughtfood, though I wonder - we are allowed to help others. The nature of where that line is drawn between good help and bad 'help' is one that is, for me, hard to figure out.
