Returned from Chicago. I hadn't been there since the last funeral. This one was very nice, very nationalist Welsh. They had my great uncle's medals from the AAF and his flyboy jacket and scarf on display, and also pictures of his plane from World War II - a B-26. They also hung the Welsh flag and a flag with the Davies crest on it, which I thought ( Read more... )

A very nice tribute. I was in Wales for six months, studying at Aberystywyth, so I can tell you that "Aberystwyth" is Welsh for "Aberystwyth." Also, I think "Araf" means "slow." But I could be wrong about that. Hope that helps.

It means slow like being late or backward or stupid, at least that's what the BBC dictionary says.

So far I can say "Good morning" and "How are you?" and things like that, and I also know a couple swear words but as I got them off the internet I'm not sure whether they're accurate or not.

Well, that definition of Araf is odd, considering it was painted on the street just before an intersection. Oh, those wacky Europeans.

I love Rammstein! My friend Alex wants to have Till Lindemann's babies - I do too rather, but as she's claimed him already -

Ahhh he's got the coolest voice.

But that's like... statist... or something... because if you turn the map upside-down it becomes the lower part of the upper peninsula. And that's too much geometry for me.

I'm more of an "On the Bus Mall" and "Of Angels and Angles" type of person, though July is great. I have to say I like their slow songs better. Take "Here I dreamt..." for example.

"Of Angels and Angles" is my favorite song, ever, despite stiff competition from Procol Harum.

and we never let the bastards get us down.

Fucking amazing.

"The Bagman's Gambit" for the chorus that stays in my head.

How I longed to hear you say
No, they'll never catch me now,
No, they'll never catch me,
No, they cannot catch me now.
We will escape somehow.
Somehow...
