I was bored so I looked back at some of the pre-2009 DEARS stuff and noticed that the membership used to only be 4,500 JPY.....2 years later and there are 3 membership plans, A (8,000 JPY), B (6,000 JPY) and C (4,500 JPY

I really like the monthly GGs. Especially with the fun videos.... other than that I don't really use my Dears Mansion page ^_^;;

I guess after awhile you get used to the slowly growing rates. -sigh- They go up almost every year.....

True, I guess the videos are a bonus but I still don't like it how the prices just soar over little things like that :( The DEARS mansion page is practically useless unless you enjoy blogging in two places and meeting all Japanese people EXCEPT GACKT *dies*

That's exactly what I thought too - I guess the bigger your name is the more you can price gouge your fans, eh?? The mansion is pointless if you have another blog with actual friends. Of course, there's no denying that you can meet friends in mansion as well, though they might treat you a bit differently if you type in another language...XD Just make sure that you don't give any hints leading to suspicions that you're not in Japan LOL

But MGG, mansion or DEARS village - it's hard to enjoy it fully unless you're fluent in Japanese, in which case, I'm not - so everything just seems distant to me.

The 3,500 JPY are the print costs for the MGG every 3 months you get when you in Plan A. Everything else is the same.

Actually, I just checked and Plan C also receives a print copy of the GG - they just lack the DEARS village/library/mansion privileges o_O

I thought only A and B got the print copy of GG. That is how it was when I signed up anyway.

Yeah, me too. But I double checked the membership plans on the G site and it definitely says that Plan C only get the print copy of GG and the yearly cards/extras. Plan B only get the digital privileges like MGG and mansion and the extras =/ Weird, I know.

Even with the online only version you still get a lot of mail from Dears as they often post out order forms for the goods etc.

I'm a Plan A and I'm happy with it. I never really bothered with the Dears Mansion when I was back in England but now that I'm in Japan I'm using it more. The communities can be fun and I'm basically using it to practise my written Japanese.

I can only think that part of the 3,500YEN extra goes towards the costs of running the Dears Mansion, the GGs and the videos. Those extra features must eat up bandwidth and file space.
