First post of 2011!

It's been a while since I last updated this LJ - I hope everyone that reads this LJ or still has me on their F-list is doing well :)

A LOT of things have happened during the time!
For those interested, please bear with me, it's like 10 posts pressed into 1! XD

1. My "main" priority: Studies
I was on a LJ break since mid-2010 because my studies had restarted and I thought, for once, maybe I could actually "commit" to my studies rather than the half-arsed attempt that I'm used to. Three words: "IT DIDN'T WORK". I was still dragging my feet and not getting my priorities straight - pathetic, really. I can only think of two reasons, either I'm not happy/interested in my coursework OR I'm just absolutely incapable of changing those things about me that matter. Eitherway, the pathetic self-pitying isn't going to make anything better, so I might as well focus on other stuff - in other words - ignore & escape (again)! ><

2. Videos and LOTS of it!
I've been on a studies break and I had initially planned a massive "To-do list" but I found myself spending hours watching videos. Videos are THE BEST way to waste time! I never was the type to follow foreign TV shows but I was getting really tired of the HK TVB junk (they continue to churn out the most untalented band of actors and shitty storylines year after year, the HK audience have my full sympathy). I was watching this JP drama called "Unubore Deka" a while back but stopped after the 7th episode, it was SO boring and predictable, Toma was a comlete idiot in the series, actually, the WHOLE cast was insufferable! Next, I went to watching Korean dramas, only watched one, "Sad Love Story" because they are SO LONG, each episode goes for a full hour! And the majority of the time the camera's just zooming in on the actors face. I know it's meant to be emotional and all but seriously, I was multi-tasking the whole time. Plus, there's only so much you can turn a blind eye to in Korean dramas, if you know what mean... I squeezed in one Anime as well, "Kuroshitsuji" or "Black Butler", both seasons and thought it was OK-ish :P I love the end-theme song "Bird"!! And currently, it's just American TV shows. I watched all of The TUDORS (4 seasons) and DEXTER (5 seasons, just "dying" for season 6!). I'm watching SIX FEET UNDER now, I found the title kind of "disturbing" at first but I realised that the story and characters are very "human". Earlier, I also rented and went to the movies and watched INCEPTION (LEO!! ^^) and TRON: LEGACY in 3D - NO IDEA what the story was about at first but the only real bone that I have to pick was that I felt over 50% of the film was in 2D! I paid double to watch 3D and the experience was just too underwhelming. The 3D-hype is just overrated!

3. Games
I'm not sure if people know this about me but I am an occassional gamer ^o^ NOT a hardcore gamer, of coure. I just enjoy the games with a good story OR have a lot of freedom :) I finished HEAVY RAIN and RED DEAD REDEMPTION - both were pretty good, quite satisfied with both purchases. HEAVY RAIN offered a very different gameplay than the others and the graphics were brilliant (I am a sucker for nice graphics!). I thought about playing Final Fantasy XIII but I watched my brother playing it and he looks so BORED, all he does is hammer the X button. The voice acting was also pretty terrible, Vanille and Fang especially (I know that much about the game??), they sound so New Zealand-ish but apparently Vanille is Australian - meh, it doesn't matter since half the time she's just groaning and moaning in the high-pitched anime/kawaii sort of way, VERY annoying! As much as I've read on the internet and from what I've seen, FFXIII has been proclaimed as the FAIL of the FF franchise >< Don't think I'll play that game any time soon. Is anyone else a gamer?

4. The BIG one: Shopping for obsessions
I just can't quit looking on eBay and shops for stuff to spend money on! Especially since the holidays started, I've been looking for new obsessions. A little while ago, I was hooked on searching for Re-ment stuff (cute little plastic miniatures) - surprisingly, I never did buy any. Most recently, it's been anime figures - I've spent close to $500 on buying figures, poseable plastic!! I don't know, maybe it's the "cute" factor? I guess it's not really new, I actually brought my first figure mid-last year (L nendoroid), now I'm adding to it >< It's kind of a rollercoaster of emotions for me when I buy them - sometimes I go nuts that I can't find a specific figure and when I do order it and it arrives, I feel a sudden pang of regret. Shipping & storage is also a pain because of the crazy packaging boxes! BUT I still keep searching to buy....WHY???? Shopaholic, maybe?

5. GACKT
Oh yes, Mr. G - I haven't forgotten him but I've certainly been in way better times when I was actually following him every day, hour and minute. It happened some time ago, but I probably haven't made note of it here (denial?) but I've paused (indefinitely) on my GACKT collection. Yes, my prized trophies/shrine of the G-God has been lacking since mid last-year. Despite being a DEARS member, I've ordered nothing since the YFC concerts & Nemuri shows in JP, that was even before he did his Europe Tour O_O So my account has been rotting away. No doubt, my seat, in the coveted DEARS Mansion has become the home of spiders and their cobwebs. I'm still interested in G, I'm just not sure when that urge or "flame" to follow GACKT (obsessively as before) will ever be re-kindled...only time will tell.

So, those are probably the 5 main things that happened/changed during my time away from LJ. There were others such as X-Mas, NY2011, friend outings, books, drawing, craft-projects, MORE shopping and other weird & wacky tidbits that I forgot to mention but there's always time and hopefully I'll be able to get to talking about those things in later entries ^__^

I guess, with what I noted above about GACKT, I should point out that there probably wont be as many posts about him as before ^^; BUT Maybe that's not such a bad thing? I can write more about..."me" (and also reviews for lame movies I watch) :P

All in all, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!
