I've never seen the movie but I read the book this summer and thought it was pretty good. It is a bit depressing, but I want to see the movie now.

Well, in the movie, the book having been written was a part of the plot. If in the book, Briony also wrote her novel about what happened in her life (i.e. the events of the film or the novel), then I thought that might be interesting to read because I've only come across such a thing in a novel a few times before (see: Percival Everett), and for some reason I find it interesting.

I suppose I did write that in an overly confusing way. Haha.
