its sounds good that something finally includes any kind of funding for women and children... but WIC isn't the most awesome program or anything, you can get some cereal, some vouchers for dairy, some little program where they talk to you like you are an idiot. its not that substantial

like - 4 boxes of cereal. 3 jugs of milk. and 4 things of cheese, in a month. for a limmitted time. something like that.
and its not plugged into any other benefits so you need to make a special bus trip there, sit and fill out there paper, have them talk to you like you don't know how to parent. they aint evil. but they aint all that. its disgusting how much hoops you have to get through to get so little, as a poor person. and then there was the famous "governtment cheese". I wonder that was wic? really weird giant processed blocks of cheese during the reagan era.
sorry, i've just been doing alot of welfare reading up and its so weird what a difference it is in literature on such things vs. experience of being there.
mothers and children need WAY more than WIC, (foodstamps are good, for instance, if you want to improve feeding people - then can work on restoring more access and bigger amounts of them) but its cool to see some mention of their needs at all.
oh, i totally agree. and it really is hit or miss when dealing with the *nutritionists.* i had some cool ones and some snotty ones and some just plain dumb ones.
