here.
[ Personality ] :
Sissel is a man without a past. Literally, since he can't remember who he is. He's desperate to find out his past before the sun rises, and determined to find the truth of who he is, the "mystery of myself". Still, he can't seem to turn down someone who's in need. Sure, helping people avert their fates of death benefits him… but he still feels horrible when he fails and has to try again.
He can be a little bit of an idiot sometimes, though it's not really his fault. He doesn't know simple concepts like 'science' or 'kidnapping'. He also can't read, though there's a good explanation for that - which he doesn't know yet at this point in canon.
He can be a little bit of an asshole though - prone to making snarky comments on the sidelines, even while he's helping someone. As the night wears on, though, he seems to ease off a bit on the people he's formed bonds with, and he does form bonds quickly. He's good to people who are good to him in return, even going so far as to refuse to let someone die and turn back time on them because he knows they will remember what happened - though he does get pretty freaked when he thinks that Lynne was the one who shot him. He's also relatively gullible - he got tricked by a dog at the beginning of the game, though he didn't know the dog was a dog. (It's a long story.)
The fact that he doesn't have any memory of his past bothers Sissel deeply. After all, the other ghosts he encounters have memories of their pasts, more or less - why not him? He doesn't have time to be scared, though - he keeps pressing forward and doesn't give up trying to solve his own mystery. Even if others might think that he's foolish for trying to figure it out so quickly, he doesn't care. Sissel walks his own path.
It's hard to say exactly how important his memory is to him, despite how hard he's working to regain it. For a while he thought he was the man in red, and seeing and hearing what had happened involving him, Sissel seemed shocked and somewhat disgusted. He didn't really think of himself as a bad person - even if the evidence to the contrary suggested that something definitely unsavory was going on. The deals and backroom talks just don't appeal to him at all.
In the land of the dead, no one can keep their thoughts to themselves, even if they want to. Because of this, Sissel has had to learn quickly to be upfront and straightforward with people. He's not very good at hiding things - for the most part, as a ghost, he just can't - so he tells people what he thinks of them to their face. He really doesn't seem to care much what other people think of him, as long as he's doing what he thinks is the right thing.
Edit: Sissel now remembers the past, and is content watching it go by. He does care a lot about Yomiel still, though.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths:
+ He can enter the world of the dead and use "ghost tricks", which in his case involve the following:
. Ability to manipulate small inanimate objects, whether it be opening a door, closing an umbrella, shuffling a shirt, or wobbling a basket. He can turn levers like this and also press buttons.
. Turn back time to four minutes before someone's death and use his other tricks to try to prevent their death, changing the present. (I suggest this power be locked in Vatheon, as it's a bit overpowered.)
. Travel through phone lines and listen in on conversations. (I propose that traveling through the SFC lines makes him extremely tired.)
+ He is also determined to a degree that would surprise people, given that he doesn't let being dead stop him from anything.
Weaknesses:
- Sissel does not know what basic things like "science" or "kidnapping" are. A lot of concepts that most people think are basic things he doesn't understand.
- Sissel cannot read, so he won't be sending any text messages until someone teaches him.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
… He looks exactly like Yomiel, whom we already have in Vatheon. It makes sense if you've played the game, I swear.
[ Sample ] :
[Who is this mysterious man in sunglasses in your plaza? And why is he looking up at the water like it's going to crash down on him at any moment? Have you seen him around before?]
[Maybe. But he's still got that 'newbie' look about him.]
Great. Just great. Now where am I? I was just going to go and see what the heck grabbed Lynne and Kamilla. I don't see any sort of giant robot arm here… so this isn't where I was before.
[He pauses, and thinks about that for a minute.]
… Yeah. This is under the sea, but it's not in a sub, so I've got no clue where the heck I am.
[He frowns, and takes a step.]
Wait… I can touch the ground. Am I… alive again? Did someone turn back time for me?
[Excuse him, Vatheon, but this mysterious man will be stomping around like an idiot who's never encountered shoes before.]
[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : As per discussion with Cal, Sissel will be able to be corporeal in Vatheon. Just… tell me if he can't use his Ghost Tricks because of that? /derp
