I don't understand how a single person on the planet thinks that Luke Cage is as good as Jessica Jones. I think Luke Cage totally nails the thematics in the same way JJ does, but the writing just falls short in so many places. It's like they have the plot all laid out and just weren't able to connect all the dots in a way that makes sense.
Near the end, after the hostage situation, NOTHING makes sense. Shades pulls a gun on Misty (a COP) and gets out on bail. That is stupid. Every hostage says Luke is innocent and Diamondback was the bad buy, but they need SHADES to corroborate it in order to lay charges? That makes NO sense. Misty ids Diamondback as the man that held a gun to her head, but she can't bring him in? What the hell? Every episode had something that was just glaringly bad writing. A cheap way to connect the dots that just didn't fit with the character or is just plain senseless.
Don't get me wrong. It was a great show, but JJ was a work of art.
