Much Better news

I have an interview next week at Daresbury Laboratory. I didn't expect that much from the application, the position was only somewhat related to the work I've done so far. I have quite a lot of scouting out what they're looking for and reading their papers to add to my seemingly endless task list ( Read more... )

It's a long way away! I'm glad you have an interview. I found once I'd done one, even when I didn't get that one, I was much more confident of finding something.

Out of interest I'm guessing your CV is on Monster and such like? I found it incredibly useful in taking the stress out of much of the job hunting since so many people will contact you directly rather than having to wade through lots of crap.

Apparently Twitter is becoming more widely used as a platform to advertise jobs now too, so it might be worth keeping an eye on?

Yes, it is a long way away. Ideally we'll stay in the midlands, but I don't mind moving, especially not for a genuine scientific computing opportunity like this. My cv is on monster, but it needs updating, my focus for the moment is on my PhD (still) I've only applied for jobs that seem really appropriate/exciting. I've spoken to C about moving, she's happy to do so. We can worry about logistics if and when I am offered a job.
