Who referred you here - username and house, if possible: I did a search for Harry Potter sorting communities.

1. Which of the Harry Potter books have you read? Which did you enjoy most?
I have read all of the Harry Potter books - each of them multiple times except for HBP. I was late to the world of Harry Potter and read the stories out of order. I read book three first, then book four, and books one and two quickly followed. I read books five and six as soon as they came out. Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix were my favorites before book six came out and I've read them more times than the others. The Half-Blood Prince is probably my favorite now even though I have only read it once so far. However, I'm sure I will catch up with that one before long. I have a soft spot for Prisoner of Azkaban because that was the first book of the series I read, I liked the overall storyline, and I enjoyed the time turner sequence. Snape plays a larger role in books five and six so that is one reason I like them more so than the others. There also seems to be more action with more developed storylines as well.

2. How do you feel about Voldemort as a character? (Not as a person.)
I am glad Voldemort isn't a simple one-dimensional villain. GoF and HBP especially gave us some insight into his character. While I don't like him, I do respect him. He is a brilliant wizard who should not be taken lightly. Voldemort is an accomplished Legimens and excels in manipulating people and situations to his advantage. The fact that most wizards harbor so much fear towards him that they cannot speak his name and flinch when hearing it is testament alone to Voldemort's power. Unfortunately for him, I think he will become more careless thinking no one can beat him now that Dumbledore is dead. I don't believe he sees Harry as a real threat.

3. Which Harry Potter character can you most relate to? (In the sense of personality, intelligence, character traits, etc.)
Hermione Granger is very easy for me to relate to. When I was younger, I used to be a bit of a bossy know-it-all and getting good grades meant everything to me. Now that I am in college, my grades are still important to me. However, like her, I came to realize that there are more important things. I can also relate to her choice of friends. I usually feel more comfortable conversing with boys than girls, especially girls like Parvati and Lavender. Instead of having a lot of friends who I am not close to, I prefer to have a few close friends. Hermione has also been known to keep things from her friends on occasion. For example, she did not tell them about her time turner or her date to the Yule Ball. I also like keeping things to myself at times.

4. Who is your favorite Harry Potter character? Least favorite?
My favorite character is Severus Snape. I love the mystery and continuous ambiguity that surround him. In my opinion, he is the most intriguing character of the series. Honestly his sarcasm and snark delight me. I think it is so ironic how much Harry learned from him when he didn't know who was doing the teaching. Snape might be a difficult teacher, but Hermione proved that a Gryffindor could do well in his class and receive an Outstanding on the Potions OWL. I like the fact that he is not perfect and still harbors past grudges. I also admire his persistence in applying for the DADA position every year during his tenure at Hogwarts. I believe Severus is on the 'good side' and was following Dumbledore's orders when he murdered him. If this is the case, his actions prove that he is one of the bravest (if not the bravest) character in the story. I am hoping we discover more about him in book seven. His character fascinates me.

Selecting Dolores Umbridge as my least favorite character would probably be a copout so I am going to go with Albus Dumbledore instead. I know him keeping silent was important to the overall storyline throughout the books, but I really think he should have been more honest with Harry from the beginning. After all, everything that is going on concerns him. I feel sorry for Harry - things are always kept from him, but he is always expected and relied upon to fix everything. Another thing that bothers me is Dumbledore's blatant favoritism. As the Headmaster, he really should be more impartial. I like Gryffindor house, but I think what he did at the end of The Sorcerer's Stone was terrible. I would have been furious if I were in Slytherin. Snape must have been livid. For the most part, Snape's favoritism towards the Slytherins doesn't bother me so much. After all, he was their Head of House and they should catch a break sometimes. Snape also had a role to live up to. I think that was one reason why he favored the Slytherins, other than the fact that he does dislike Gryffindor on the whole.

5. What thing, event, or person has had the most impact in your life? (Please don't use yourself because you can't think of someone/something else. Think hard!)
My younger brother, Andrew, has made the most impact in my life. I am thirteen years his senior and he is technically my half-brother. I feel having the chance to be an older sister has changed me. I am very protective of him and enjoy having him around. I'm glad my mother had him because I could not begin to imagine what my life would be like without Andrew. He's the best.

6. What makes a friendship valuable to you?
I tend to take things too seriously and am known to be exceptionally hard on myself. When looking for a friend, I value a good sense of humor above all else. I love people that can make me laugh. I also have an extremely difficult time trusting people. As a result, I do not allow many people to get close to me. Naturally trustworthiness is also something I look for in a close friend.

7. If you had a hero (real or literary) who would it be? (Please keep in mind that we're asking IF you had one, and again please don't use yourself because you can't think of someone else. Be creative!)
I chose Amelia Earhart for a few reasons. I like the fact that she was a tomboy and did not let her gender keep her from doing something she desired. She did not have a good childhood but was still able to make something of herself. She had many interests and was going to enter the field of medicine before becoming involved in aviation. I think she was a good role-model and many young girls looked up to her. I also find the mystery of her disappearance fascinating.

8. What are your personal aspirations for your future?
I have a great number of aspirations. First of all, I want to marry the love of my life and have a happy and healthy family. I think I would like to have four kids. Having a family someday is very important to me. When I was growing up, I was an only child raised by a divorced mother and my father rarely ever cared to see me. I have no contact with him now. My mother was truly wonderful and I did have a happy childhood. Still, I would prefer my children to be raised by both of their parents if possible. As far as my career goes, I would like to work in the field of community relations. I think this would be perfect for me. I am very organized, enjoy planning things, and like getting people involved. So far I have not had the opportunity to leave the continental US. I would love to spend time traveling to foreign countries someday. I also have a pipe dream of becoming an actress.

9. What are your most prominent personality traits, good or bad? Which one do you feel best defines who you are as a person?
Good: Funny, Ambitious, Persistent, Adventurous, Curious, Polite, Unique
Bad: Stubborn, Hard to Please, Tend to be Pessimistic, Easy for Me to Find Fault in Things, Don't Like Admitting I'm Wrong

I think the trait that defines me most is my curiosity. When I am interested in something, I like to find out as much as I can about it. Then I like becoming involved with it somehow. This doesn't span across everything, however. Only things I find interesting.

10. What house combination do you feel you're most like? Least like? (This is not pushing. It shows whether or not you are self-aware and may not have an influence on the voting process.)
I think I am most like the combination of Gryffindor and Slytherin. Gryffindor because of my love for adventure, sense of humor, and loyalty to those members of my family and friends who I feel particularly deserve it. Slytherin due to my subtlety, hard to please nature, lack of trust, and ambition. I think they balance each other well. I can also see some Ravenclaw to a degree. It is entirely up to you though. I can't wait to see your responses.

11. Why should we not squib you?
I should not be squibbed because I have read all of the books numerous times. I think I have a good grasp on what each house represents and values. I have been entirely honest throughout the application. And finally, I am not a rabid fangirl. I enjoy hearing people's theories on certain characters and what is going to happen in book seven. I give the series thought.
