wow, i didn't know that the jewish word for side is the same as the one for rib. puts a whole new spin on things. and i've never heard the theory that some pople think the first being was a male-female creature. but if it's true that they were one being, why didn't the first person to write the bible say they came from each other's side instead of just saying it was adam's side?

yea my bible translates "Then Hashem God fashioned the side that He had taken from the man into a woman ( ... )

my bible says the same thing about "God said let us make Adam in our image. . . male and female he created them." But Genesis has always confused the crap out of me. (like why is God singular but the bible keeps saying "they" in reference to God as well as him. and i remember you telling me about the upright posture and all that stuff before. very interesting stuff. and did you ever finish reading your bible? i have tons of questions with me about what i read, and i wanted to pick your brain (that's really disgusting if you take that saying literally. . . ) on a couple of things.
