Behold, the Sword of a Thousand Truths!

Ok, normally I don't watch South Park but S.O.'s parents had it Tivoed when we went up to visit Saturday. And it seemed like it'd make a good subject for this post, even though I'm not going to write any more about it ( Read more... )

...yeah, that too. It originally said "generally competant." Maybe I should have left it that way. ;-)

Yay for actually looking at jobs!

Re, a decade-long commitment: It is stupid of any company to mention this during an interview. Very, very stupid. (Ask your S.O. about the "Oh, 4loveofaharp's S.O., are we going to go epic in this campaign?? <3 <3" IM conversation for a good parallel.)

Man. Internet anonymity is exhausting!

Right, anyway, the way the job market is today (and the way our generation is approaching it) employers know that not everyone will stick around for 10 years or more or a lifetime career. They'd like it, of course, but they can't really demand it ( ... )

Having been doing the interview thing myself for the past few weeks, I agree that they are not the horrible things they have been made out to be. That is, as long as the interviewers ask honest conversation-led questions, not canned "what was your greatest challenge" fill-out-the-form questions. That was my pet peeve about a couple I did.

Good luck on landing a job! I hope you find one that you like.

What's it like living on the 12th floor? I have never lived or worked so high.

Thanks, I think things are looking up on the job front. I'll also be volunteering at the local library pretty soon.

Being up this high definitely has its perks. View, mostly, and I think we get more sunlight than the people directly below us. But never underestimate the power of the view. :-)
