I've been reading a lot of posts on the ParamoreMusic Community, and also replies to Paramoreband, plus PFC forum etcera. And I must say, I am having trouble keeping up with what people are saying.

For instance. All this week I have seen people write "ia" and I honestly sat there thinking, what does "ia" mean? Then just before I finally realised it ( Read more... )

I know exactly what you mean. I'm 18, and I even feel old with all these crazy abbreviations. I'll admit, I succumb to them sometimes, and I'll catch myself writing ngl (not gonna lie) or something like that. However, I HATE "ia" and "ily", totally agree with you. I never use those, and it's really unnecessary. Plus, I get where you're going with the "ily" thing. It does take away the meaning of "love".

I never write "u", either. Just type out the fucking word, it's not that hard; 3 letters.

lol, I write 'u' sometimes, haha. But I tend to write 'you' lol.

Hehe yeah, I know, it's easy to just quickly write "u". I guess I just associate it with some lazy people I know (irl - lol abbreviations again - in real life) that always write/ text type like that.

THANK YOU!!! This really annoys me too!! i don't know why i let it though? its not like its something making an huge impact on my life! but it gets me none the less. i really HATE abbreviations in almost every situation! i am guilty of using "lol" quite a lot though! (yes hypocritical i know) but still! and what annoys me even more is when people replace a whole sentence with a few letters?! how can that happen? and how do you know that the person reading is actually going to figure out what you're trying to say? and not just make up they're own random sentence that can fit with those letters? i'm 19 and im ranting about this like some grumpy old woman now. haha! but ahhh....i dont get it at all! Just use words to talk!!!! i'll be quiet now!

*leaves muttering "it really isn't hard to type out whole words"*

hahaha. I agree with you, it's annoying and can irritate me at time's as well.

I mean, as I said, I don't mind it when it's once off, or not full sentences (or ily lol) but sometimes its too much, haha.

Hahaha you know how I feel about kiddi3 internet spe3k. Although, I have to say -- I have been using "ily" for years now between certain internet friends hahaha. I figured it out when someone wrote it at the end of a myspace message to me once... I am not a big fan of shortening words -- and if you remember me ripping you out on the guy forum all those years for it (hahaha) you'll know why.

It's just so much easier to write the full words... people are dumb! Internet slang is a black spot on society!!!

I have to admit to you all that, back when I was 15/16 I wrote like this:

"omg hey every1. I just wanted 2 say that u's all rok hehehe. koolies! k?" But, I didn't normally abbreviate, I just sounded like a twit. lol. Thank you for pulling my head in.

And next time I see you, I'm going to hit you for using ily lol. ugh. annoying. Don't ily me, lol.

Haha, I agree with you on that, I get confused all the time so I just give up and go on to the next topic.
I have sat there and tried to figure the word out, it took me forever to figure out ia. It annoys me when they use abbrevations for a sentence and then it's useless just even trying to read it, because not everybody abbreviates their sentences or phrases.

I'm soo glad that i'm not the only one that doesn't get what people are talking about sometimes. I feel like there should be a book or something, cuz i'm lost sometimes lol
