Everybody Hurts...Sometimes

Do you ever have that moment where you just feel that you don't know yourself as well as you thought you did? Where you begin to question your beliefs and whether you truly believe in what you have come to stand for, both in your own mind and the eyes of others? I'm felling that way right now and it's turning into a mini-crisis for me ( Read more... )

Firstly, I don't think you're selfish. You don't want everything for yourself, or everything in general. Maybe a better world would be self-absorbed? Not to sound like a bitch, but...maybe that's a better word, haha ( ... )

All my life I've believed that I'm a giving and understanding person, that I will bend over backwards for my friends whenever they need me, that I'd do anything for a person I care about without questioning how much of an imposition it puts on me.

Maybe it's good thing you're realizing this. You shouldn't be bending over backwards for people who don't appreciate it, or wouldn't do the same for you. I've been with you so many times when friends have called you for a favour, or you've stopped by someone's place to bring them something, but I've yet to witness any return on that. Not once. I'm not trying to turn you against your friends, but maybe this whole thing is more about you realizing that a lot of your actions are one sided, and not that your motivations in doing so are so. Maybe it's both.

AT the moment, I can't think of anything that I have done for another human being that I did just for the sake of doing it. And that disturbs me.You drove me back to Morden after Foo Fighters ( ... )

First and foremost we all do things to better ourselves, it's human nature, survival of the fittest if you will. It's not a bad thing if you don't look out for yourself who will? I know that comes off sounding a little cold...and even more so ginvin the source lol but its the truth. Sure we help out friends and family and even strangers sometimes just for the hell of it, but in all honesty we get somthing out of it to. You feel good about yourself after helping someone. Of all the things in the world to beat yourself up over the fact that you "bend over backwards" to help out your friends is the least of your worries. Even if you think you only do it for "some smug sense of satisfaction" you still do it. everyone wants to feel superior and very few people do stuff just for the sake of doing it, everyone wante recognition. It just feels good ( ... )
