Stretching

OUCH!
I'm stretching some of the holes in my ears just a TINY bit and it hurts! I didn't think the earrings I bought were much bigger than the boring old studs I've been wearing, but apparently they are! And even a slight stretch hurts a bit. :/

My sympathies. However, you can take solace in the fact that your userpic is absolutely perfect.

**HUGS!**

Yeahhhh, even a tiny stretch does hurt. When I slipped in my 8ga earrings (going up one step from 10ga), it stung like a mofo. What size did you go up to?

For me, taking the earrings out and running them under cool water for a few seconds then putting them back in was awfully soothing (the cold felt nice and calmed the burning sensation a bit).

The cold water thing sounds like a very good idea! I'll remember that if I think about stretching more.
I went from whatever the standard post diameter is to some curved barbells that are probably an 16g. (It's possible they're 18g and I'm a wuss...) This was, perhaps, not a very smart thing to do. I didn't make myself bleed, though, so I guess I'll be alright!

Ahhh. Actually, that's just one step up, I believe. Wow, 18ga is pretty tiny! 14ga is what I used to wear right from the get-go (it's a pretty standard size).

Just don't get the metal TOO cold. Cool to the touch should suffice. :]

hope you bought some "provon". when you stretch you get little tears in there (really tiny but thats part of the reason they hurt and sometimes itch) you should be washing your lobes with anti bacterial soap twice a day sudsing up and moving the earring back and forth (NOT in a twisting motion). make sure the soap is getting in there and also that it is getting all the way out after a thorough rinsing and some more back and forthing.

they shoudl feel better in a few days :0) oh and btw if someone already told you all this i appologize. just figured better safe than sorry huh?

oh and forgot to say you need to wear each size up for at least two weeks before switching to the next size up otherwise you risk tearing your lobe and that would be crappy. onceyou get to the size you want you need to wear that size earring for at least a year for the scar tissue to develop enough for it to hold that size. so if you wear the bigger ones for a few weeks and then switch back to something smaller they will just go back to their old small size. sorry again butting out now
