Terra | Anything Goes

The streets were filled with a strange fog, making most of the surroundings dream-like in nature. Terra walked through them anyway, mostly lost in thought. So many things were happening lately that he needed time to just process it all. A walk would do well to clear his head and he was glad for the opportunity on the quiet streets that seemed to ( Read more... )

Saria padded quietly through the streets, hugging her arms over her chest, out of the slight chill in the air and out of fear. She kept her back against the wall of the building behind her as best as she could, forcing herself not to look up lest the giant structures make her dizzy again. She was used to foggy mornings in the woods, but there was something wrong about this whole setting, and she didn't recognize anything around her.

Her feet started to ache from the uneven pavement under her thin boots. She sat against the wall, curling around herself and shivering. She hesitated to even call out for somebody. She had no idea what was in store for her beyond the fog. She didn't like any of this and she wanted to go home.

It wasn't long before Terra saw a figure in the fog. He tensed slightly, not sure what to make of it. Was it a monster or just another person walking through the fog. Terra decided he best act on the side of caution and started to summon up the magic required to bring forth the keyblade.

He held up the Wayfinder charm and started to approach the figure. However, his need to summon the keyblade quickly dissipated when he saw it was just a small girl. He lowered his hand, "Hello. Are you lost?" He could see that she was scared, clearly. He just hoped he could help.

Saria gasped and looked up suddenly at the voice that startled her. She withdrew a little, unfamiliar with the much taller figure standing close to her. He was a grown-up. And what was wrong with his ears? Both of those things further induced a growing fear; she was well outside the forest.

"Please..." she hesitated to ask, "Where am I?"

The day had been bright and clear, morning sun making it obvious that the weather would be perfect for playing outside, and Terra had dashed excitedly out the doors of the castle, calling for Aqua to catch up-

When the day was suddenly dark and cold, with fog too thick to see through roiling all around him and up over his head, too high for him to look over it.

Suddenly Terra was very, very scared. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself the way the Master had taught him, and walked forward, trying to find something familiar or, if that didn't work, something friendly. Luckily - as lucky as he could be in this sort of situation - it wasn't long until he saw and orange light in the fog and leaned into a run to catch up with it. "Hey!" he called, words nearly swallowed by the weather. "Is someone there?"

Terra immediately froze in his tracks as the voice called out to him in the fog. It was so familiar and yet he couldn't place it. Why did he know that voice? He furrowed his brows in thought but nothing came to him. He could tell it was a kid though.

"Yes. Can you see my light?" He held up the charm as it cast a soft glow. If the kid was too far away it wouldn't work but hopefully they could find each other. Terra didn't want to move though for fear of moving his source of light away from the kid.

"Yeah, I can!" The light, dim as it was in the fog, was still getting closer as Terra ran. It was a relief to know that someone else was out here - that he wasn't just wandering alone.

He started slowing down as an outline came into view in the fog, skidding to a stop when he reached it and looked up to see...

Uh.

There was a beat of silence as Terra stared up at the man who was unmistakably him, except older. Still, that didn't...there was something really weird going on here.

"Who are you?"

The fog was unsettling to say the least. Aqua didn't know what was going on or why she'd suddenly fallen out of the Realm of Darkness - if that was really what had happened; she wasn't entirely sure at this point. All she knew was that this place gave her a very bad feeling. And she didn't like it.

Aqua had never had this much trouble summoning her keyblade before - maybe it was because her master's keyblade didn't respond the way hers had - and that made things even worse. She could just make out the sound of someone walking nearby and focused on that. Hopefully, whoever it was could tell her what was going on.

If it wasn't a Heartless.

He saw the figure in the fog but couldn't make out who it was until he got closer. He hadn't really expected to run into others out on a day like this. Perhaps others were as restless as he was.

A few steps more and he started to make out a very distinct shape and he smiled in relief, "Aqua. What are you doing out here?"

The figure turned into a familiar one and Aqua breathed a sigh of relief. Taking a few steps forward, she frowned at his question. "I don't know. I was hoping someone else could tell me."

Darkness was nothing new. He walked through it every day of his life; passed through it unscathed. He had nothing it wanted. Nor was it too much trouble for him to see through it. His unique... alliances saw to that. And yet, there was an odd familiarity to the light of the Wayfinder. Like he had known - should still know - the item that cast such a light. But there was nothing. Merely the echoing emptiness that he'd come to recognize of his past.

But that was hardly a reason that he couldn't go and see what was casting the light, and he turned his path towards it, moving with all the ease of someone who hasn't the slightest care in the world.
