I can't tell you what exactly is true about this and what exactly is false. But the underlying message of the entire article is one everyone needs to read. I'm not putting this here so people can point out the differences between what some scholars say and what this article says, but instead its a good place to realize how in the end, we're all the ( Read more... )

It's sad that things have come to this. All over the net, in papers and opinion pieces people are expressing a total 'Islamophobia', claiming that they haven't seen any form of Islam that promotes peace and kindness. Though the media is reluctant to further publish anything along those lines in fear of a similar backlash, the original point was made clear.

I was at a lecture at UofT's 'Radical Islam Week' this past week. A man stood and asked the speaker, "we've all heard that Islam is a religion of peace, but we've never seen it. Can we assume that these notions are false?" A muslim student raised her hand and tried to answer the question (and one pertaining to Jihad). She was mocked by the speaker and the crowd.
