She smiles, eyes closed, feigning the appearance of enjoyment and happiness. She has to, because it will be suspicious if she doesn’t, and she doesn’t want to upset the others. They are nice, and she sometimes wishes to get to know them longer, but she knows she won’t. Her time is almost up in the living world. Her time is almost up living. But she can’t let the others know, so she puts on a mask.
A mask to hide what she’s thinking. A mask to hide how she feels. A mask to hide what she really is. A mask to hide everything.
For now though, she could pretend to be an ordinary, happy girl currently enrolled at Karakura High School. It would be okay to pretend for just a little while. No one would know, no one would remember. It would be lying, it would be bad, but she secretly enjoyed living this life.
Kuchiki Rukia enjoyed keeping up the façade of a normal life. A life she would never get.
