Theme 2: Bittersweet

After nearly losing everything, they'd won it all--saving both worlds from mass turmoil and destruction at the hands of one too blind to understand the gift of life.

It was all over.

It felt like a dream, something Colette didn't want to let go off just yet. To go back to her home of Iselia... it just wouldn't be the same as traveling with everyone. She'd still have Lloyd, even Raine and Genis, for the most part. But she wouldn't have Regal giving her sound advise, or Zelos being his usual perverted self, or Presea offering her strength, and Sheena with her kindness and undying friendship. It was heartbreaking, but they all had to do what had to be done.

Sheena had stayed with her and Lloyd a few days in Iselia, but left promptly after. Raine and Genis dropped by every now and then, and life resumed.

Colette stirred her tea, musing over old times. Everything seemed to have gone so fast, but she had to admit, she loved the new found peace. There hadn't been a single skirmish since the fall of Mithos, and everyone was happy.

She couldn't ask for more than that.

She took a sip of the tea, now cold from neglect. But it still tasted good. Someone knocked at the door, which she answered with a call rather than getting up. "Colette, you have a letter." Her father walked into the room, waving the paper in front of her face.

A smile stuck her features and she grabbed it gleefully, almost spilling her tea. "Oh, thank you dad!"

He smiled and they exchanged a few more words, then he left.

It was so exciting! She'd never received a letter before.... Now who could it be from... She tore at the flap and pulled out the vaguely pink slip. A very short, very simple message that seemed to waste the paper greeted her eyes.

Hey, Colette. Happy birthday! Didn't think I'd forget, did you?"

Love your friend, Sheena

Typical Sheena, couldn't write a decent letter for the life of her. But it was still heartwarming. Colette let go of a sigh. Maybe it was time to pay a visit...
