44/50 Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale by Holly Black

This book wasn't bad, but many of its elements were overly familiar. Disaffected, normal girl Kaye can see faeries and learns that she is about to be sacrificed in a faerie ceremony. Oh, and there's a good faerie knight gone bad in there too.

I find myself rather sick of a certain undercurrent in Black's books: the I-smoke-and-I-curse-and-that-makes-me-cool thing and the real-faeries-(not-fairies--faeries)-are-SCARY thing are just not as impressive as she seems to think it is.

I'm planning to read Ironside. :)

45/50 For Love of Evil by Piers Anthony

The sixth book in the Incarnations of Immortality, detailing the long long history of Parry, who assumes the Office of Evil. I've learned to expect Anthony's obssession with sex, and in this book, it's actually used to good effect as part of Parry's downfall, almost like it's Anthony's (forget Parry) inclination that he has to fight. *shrug* In any case, a great deal of the tail end of this book ends up being rehash, but bits of it are interesting enough from the Devil's point of view. Just not much of a denouement, is all.

Next: I've started a few: Specials (still), Ironside, Silk and And Eternity
