1. Pail
Kagome wiped the sweat from her brow as she bent to lift yet another filled-to-the-brim water pail; she was pleasantly surprised to see InuYasha reach for it and easily heft it away.
2. River
She’d told him she didn’t think Cherokee would take to swimming very well, but he didn’t listen and found himself floating in the river instead.
3. Cotton
“Cotton breathes,” she’d told him; fuck that, with her clothes so clingy, he wasn’t able to draw breath anyway!
4. Jungle
InuYasha always took Kagome for a city girl, and was surprised to learn she’d love to catalog undiscovered flower species in the jungle.
5. Determined
Kagome was determined to ignore him as she stared ahead; ignoring him pissed him off more than yelling.
6. Taupe
Kagome insisted Ginger was “taupe-colored” but he had no fucking clue what she meant…
7. Cookie
“Do you want a dog biscuit for your troubles?” she snapped, cringing a little as she realized belatedly what she had said.

InuYasha snickered, “You wave that damn crop like a monkey with a stick.”

He was surprised when she brought onigri with her for lunch one day; he shouldn’t have been, he knew, but for a moment, he felt like he was home.

She brandished her weapon with ease; within seconds, he was soaked from head to toe, and she dropped the hose to run.

If he had to watch her suck on that damn thing any longer, he was either going to rip it out of her hands or give her something else to suck on…

Okay, so he had stepped the line; it wasn’t often he cowered, but she was really damn scary today!!

She woke up panting, his breathy moans still echoing in her ears… wait, why was she dreaming of him?!

Kagome squealed and clutched his arm and he rolled his eyes, “Who the hell freaks out at ‘Dawn of the Dead’?”

A relationship was a solid foundation for a future business opportunity; if those two couldn’t get it right, somebody would be gutted.

Kagome had carried a torch for him for so long without really realizing it… could she do anything to salvage their friendship now?

He stood entranced as her hair tumbled down her back; cascading strands of ebony he wanted to badly to run his fingers through again…

“In the aviary,” he spat sarcastically, nose already twitching, “it’s a fucking henhouse and everybody knows it!”

The scent of Kagome’s blood came from beyond the pasture; apparently, some wire fencing had gotten loose and snapped her across the arm.

“Okay, fine, I fucking love her!” he shouted, unable to keep his voice down, “But that doesn’t mean I’m going to do anything about it!”

He was a fey creature, she decided; not ugly or half-formed or a half-breed or anything… she preferred “supernatural” and “otherworldly”.

Kagome cringed as she fell, knowing the moment Ginger refused the jump that it would hurt; it didn’t, he caught her, and she nearly cried from the concern he showed.

InuYasha hated her questions about his childhood, they always made him seem gloomy when in truth, it wasn’t his fault!

“I will not allow you to harm my daughter again,” Mr. Higurashi lectured the poor teen.

Kagome shook the feed mixture harshly, anger suffusing her face, “We wouldn’t have to give Cherokee these supplements if you’d been taking care of him properly!”

InuYasha watched Miroku’s relationship prosper with a sort of bitterness: he felt great for his first real friend, but knew he’d never have the same luck.

InuYasha watched Kagome slip the gun back in its holster and wondered where she’d learn to shoot… and why.

He tried pretending she wasn’t supposed to be his; but he couldn’t fake apathy, so he forced anger, instead.
