That other lyric table

Title: True Love
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Characters: Finduilas/Denethor
Prompt: 20. And say goodbye to the last parade, and walk away from the choice you made
Word Count: 159
Rating: G
Summary: Finduilas finds that romance isn't the answer to everything.
Author's Notes: These be Tolkien's. Forty-six fics without a direct POV from one of the characters on my claim table. Huh. Had to fix that.

Love doesn’t change everything. Truly, it barely changes anything.

As a young girl, I dreamed of true love, and thought that it meant finding one with whom I could live happily ever after. I fantasized of a lordly hero, who could sail me beyond the reach of all my troubles, of a man that would delight solely in me and I in naught but him. As I grew older, watching my parents, my elder sister, and her friends, I at least acknowledged that my one true love and I would probably have fights, if only so that we could make up after them. I allowed for the fact that we probably would not be together constantly; he would have dashing deeds to do, and I would have to find something to keep myself occupied. I never gave much thought as to exactly what I would be doing.

Perhaps, if I had, I would find these silences easier to bear.
