"Oh! It's cold here!" Aiba exclaimed holding himself tightly, rubbing his hands on his bare arms.
"I can lend you my coat. Just make sure to bring me back next time!" Nino removed his coat and handed it to the man shivering beside him.
Aiba thanked and wore the warm clothing as watched Nino enter his manager's car.
No matter how many times people warned him, Aiba continued repeating that little mistake again and again: if it was a warm morning, he ignored the weather forecast that said would get cold at evening and leave home without his jacket. Because of that his band mates - and even his manager sometimes - had to lend him their outerwear.
Aiba knew they didn't care about that, but he was also aware that it could be pretty troublesome for them.
Whoever was close to Aiba lend him their jackets. Sho's and Jun's did fit Aiba perfectly, while Ohno's and Nino's were always a little small, but nothing Aiba bothered too much. If any member asked him or, by any chance, he noticed it was dirty, Aiba cleaned it and folded carefully before put in a paper bag to give it back to them the next time they met. He could forget his own outerwear, but never forgot people's things.
-----
When Aiba reached home at night, he found something odd inside his pocket.
"...Game cards?" he said softly as brought the two cards to his eye level. It was Nino's jacket after all. He might have forgotten them in the pocket while practiced his magic tricks.
Aiba put them back inside the pocket before fold the jacket and place it with his belongings on the living room. There he would remember to bring it with himself to work.
At first Aiba didn't make a big deal about the cards. He thought Nino was just too entertained learning new tricks and dropping cards everywhere he passed by.
It happened twice. Aiba didn't care.
Three times. It was becoming a habit.
On the fourth time Aiba finally realized the cards were always the same: Ace and King of hearts.
After the fifth time he started to examine the cards. They looked like ordinary game cards, but they had to have something different to make Nino keep them like that.
Aiba looked thoroughly every detail of both cards. Their thickness, their size, if they were torn, the print, the colors. But he didn't find anything different. They were only an Ace and a King of hearts.
"Do these cards have some meaning?"
Nino blinked a couple of times in silence.
"An Ace and a King of hearts. What do they mean?" Aiba insisted, waving the cards in front of the younger man.
"I don't know. They are just cards. They don't have any meaning." Nino took the cards from Aiba's hand and put them inside his bag. He got up from the couch, ready to leave, but Aiba interrupted him.
"You know. They are always in your jackets' pockets! In every single jacket!" Aiba held the slender arm and continued asking, just like a curious kid "What do they mean? Why do you carry them with you?"
"I don't know!" Nino batted Aiba's hand away "It's just a coincidence. You're thinking too much." he waved Aiba goodbye and left the greenroom.
"It can't be a coincidence! It's always these two cards!" Aiba yelled to the door but he was already completely alone.
He couldn't believe in such coincidence and sensed that Nino knew something. So Aiba did some research about playing cards and its suits. He learned that each suit had its own meaning, depending on the culture and country and each King was named after historical heroes, as well as Queens and Jacks. But he couldn't find anything special that connected Aces to Kings - just that King Charles VII's favorite mistress was Agnès Sorel. But he doubted it interested Nino that much.
Aiba tried to ask as much as he could - to friends, staffs and even magicians - about those two cards connections, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. He tried to persuade Nino to tell him what he knew, but Aiba only got a smack on the head.
-----
Everything returned to normal somehow. Aiba managed to forget about the mysterious playing cards and kept borrowing outerwear from people once in a while.
But a certain day, while Aiba talked with Ohno as they went to the dance studio, he found the two cards inside his own jacket's pocket. He didn't lend it to Nino, nor saw him that day yet, so it intrigued him to find them there.
"If Nino's playing a prank, then it isn't funny at all." Aiba whined looking to the cards.
Suddenly, Ohno that was humming quietly beside him let out a yelp and grabbed Aiba's hand that held the cards.
"Aiba-chan, these are your initials!"
Aiba thought for a moment.
"But I'm Masaki."
"The K is for Kazunari." Ohno explained pointing to the King.
"...So what?" Aiba blinked confused to the older man.
"Aiba, Kazunari and hearts. Nino likes you."
Aiba thought for a moment again. Nino likes me... Nino likes me?
They were good friends indeed, but nothing more than that. At least Aiba thought there wasn't anything more than that.
"But- Nino- he can't like me!" Aiba blushed as looked back to the cards in his hand.
"Why not?" Ohno giggled having fun seeing Aiba embarrassed.
"I... I don't know..." Aiba wanted time to think about that properly, but they have reached the studio where the other members waited for them.
Aiba was beside Nino the whole choreography and for some reason it made him incredibly nervous. The image of them close to each other in the mirror made his heart race a little, he couldn't follow the music with his heart pounding so loudly.
Because of Aiba they had to stop practicing that day.
"What's wrong with you? You were worst than ever!" Nino teased the taller man.
"I... well... it's..."
"Say it."
"The cards. I found them today." Aiba took them from his back pocket and showed to Nino.
"Oh. And?"
"Were you trying to confess to me?" Aiba's cheeks were hot when he finished the sentence, but he could clearly see Nino's face also turning a light shade of pink "I mean, do you like me?"
"What?! What are you talking about?" Nino started to pack his belongings, turning his back to Aiba and the other members that were still in the dressing room.
Aiba approached to the slender man and lowered his voice, so no one could hear them.
"I talked to leader and, he said these letters are our initials and there's the heart and-" he was interrupted by Nino's loud and long groan of frustration "N-Nino?"
Nino took their bags and dragged Aiba with himself outside the studio's building. At the parking lot he let go of Aiba's arm and rubbed his own face with his hands. Aiba just kept looking confused at him.
"I didn't know how to say it, so I thought in give you some hints. But you're too stupid to get them and... No. I am stupid for telling leader about this. Leader's too kind, it's obvious that he would tell you about the initials..." Nino murmured to himself, a bit too loud, so Aiba heard all his complaints.
A few more whines later Nino turned his face to Aiba.
"So? Will you stay over there looking at me?"
A shy smile formed on Aiba's face. He walked towards Nino and kissed the corner of his mouth softly.
Nino's eyes got wide in surprise and he looked away embarrassingly, biting his lower lip lightly.
"That's not what I meant." he whispered putting his hands inside his pockets, trying to look as small as he could.
Aiba simply laughed and stroked Nino's hair tenderly.
"This hint is too hard! You could have tried some anonymous love letters."
"That's so cheesy!" Nino frowned.
"And an Ace and a King of hearts is not?"
Nino ignored the older man and walked to his manager's car. Aiba followed suit.
"Nino, can I go home with you?"
"Do as you wish."
