Hmph. Toshizou is such a stick in the mud. I thought that because Isako's not here we could have a little fun and use the radio to make some prank calls together. But he said he wouldn't! And when I decided to go ahead and do it without him, I couldn't find any radio opps to help me. Maybe I could try pressing random buttons until I get the desired ( Read more... )

Finally I have met a person aboard this ship who enjoys a little fun! You just need to know how to charm Hijikata. He and I are the best of friends. Perhaps I could try to blackmail talk him into helping.

Unfortunately, I'm not blessed with technology know-how of any kind. If you would like some company while you pushed buttons and a dazzling performer once you get the radio to work, do let me know.

By the way, I'm Gorobei Katayama.

That would be great! Four hands are way better than two, and if we can convince Toshizou to come along, then we'll have... let's see here... SIX hands! It'll be super fun!

Gorobei! Now THAT's what I call a cool name! I'm Alfred. Alfred F Jones. Nice ta' meet you!

Alfred is a very fitting name for someone of your level of fun, charm, and wit! It's always a pleasure to meet someone who has the same love for life as myself. We keep things interesting, yeah?

I haven't seen Hijikata around lately. I believe he sleeps a lot and not even I would be fool-hardy enough to break him out of one of his rests. I have others I could ask, though. Others that may have some idea of technology and are congenial enough to help us out. I will ask one of them as soon as I can find one!

You think? I've always thought that loving and living life to the fullest was important. That's why I joined this crew in the first place!

Hehehe... he can be pretty scary at times. Good call. Ah well, his loss! We'll find someone else; the more the merrier!

What? You don't like being called a stick in the mud?

I take that as statement of fact, from people like you. We're not on first-name terms.

Well, we should be! You can call me Alfred!

Mister Hijikata just doesn't want undue attention called to the ship, I'm sure. We're still not in the clear, you know.

But prank calls can't hurt anyone! You're taking his side?

They can if someone takes it the wrong way...

I'm taking the side of common sense. I know people want to have fun, and I enjoy pranks myself, but I don't think this one is a good idea.

Ah! That's why we have to choose who we prank wisely! Those grumps aboard that Ivonan ship are no fun, so of course they'd take offense, but someone with a good sense of humor wouldn't!

How well can you disguise your voice?

Prank calls, Mr. Jones?

Yes! Mr. Sogyo, prank calls! It's when you use the radio to call someone without giving them your real name. Then you say things like "Is your ship's engine running? Then you'd better run and catch it," or "Do you have prince Albert in a can? Then you should let him out!"... I don't really get the last one, but that's how it's done!

I'm aware of what they are, Mr. Jones.

I haven't partaken in something so juvenile in ages.

Not good. Not good! I've always thought that one should satisfy their juvenile tendencies whenever they have the chance. That way, when the time comes, there's nothing stopping you from being as serious as you need to be!
