an update of sorts

Oct 16, 2009 22:36

I’m so far behind in posting here but will try breaking down updates into separate installments. Today’s topic … health. Trust me, it’s best to get this one out of the way first. Then we can move on to travel, home projects, E. coli, dating and all that fun stuff.

Health stuff )

Sherry I am so, so sorry to read about all the problems with your sinuses. As a veteran of severe sinus issues, I have an idea of what you've been through. I can't believe nobody found the more serious issues earlier ( ... )

That HP shirt you sent me? I'm wearing it right now! I also wore it last weekend when I spent Fri/Sat nights with my cousins. Every time I wear it, I think of Kim and you and friendship - and share the story behind the shirt. It's still seeing a continuation of HP fun and friends getting together. Thank you again for entrusting me with Kim's shirt. Friendship is a beautiful legacy to share.

I knew you had sinus issues, too, but didn't know you'd had surgeries for it. Wow, and yes I will have many questions should that be the case for me. Did the surgeries help your situation?

OMG, Sherry, this brought tears to my eyes! I was hesitant to even mention the shirt, because I really didn't want you to feel any pressure about it. As long as you enjoy it I would have been content, but what you've told me... it really has a place in my heart.

The fact that you think of her, and of our wonderful friendship, and share the story with others is so much more than I ever would have asked, and it is an incredible, incredible gift you have given me.

In a related note, I don't recall what it was, but just the other day I thought of how I decorated the box, and you said the UPS guy insisted on bringing it back to your office personally. That memory already had me smiling. :o) It was so fun that you shared that, too, when it happened!

I still miss Kim every day. I try to keep it mostly positive, of course, but sometimes I just regret so much that she's not here to share something. I appreciate you helping me add to the positive side of it! She would like that, too. :o)

OMG! Hopefully getting your tooth extracted will mean some of your sinus issues will be resolved for good. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out about 7 years ago. I did it with just Novocaine and since I didn't have very long roots, the teeth popped right out, no problem. The only snafu in the procedure was as the dentist was withdrawing one of my teeth, he dropped it and I almost swallowed it. Ewwww! He managed to get it before I did though, thank goodness.

My wisdom teeth experience was so easy, my husband went to the same place to get his taken out too, thinking it would be the same for him, and instead it was awful. He had some really long, really jacked-up roots, and it took almost 3 hours of work to get them all out. He never got completely numb either, so he felt pretty much everything the dentist did. To this day, he still considers it one of the worst dental experiences of his life.

Anyway, its good to hear from you, Sherry. Looking forward to the updates on all the rest.

Dental procedures just might be my least favorite of all and I'm glad that's over. I'm sure you and your husband are glad to have those wisdom teeth gone. I'm sorry your husband had such a rough time.

It's good to hear from you, too. I'm woefully behind on my reading list but hope to remedy that this winter after these home projects are finally completed. I may need recs from you! :)

Oh Sherri! So glad to see you!! I've missed you terribly! (ok, pot calling kettle black here cause I haven't been on much either... however...). I hope that this is the beginning of the end of the sinus problems for you, I can't imagine what you've gone thru. And hopefully, you're being well taken cared of from your family and freinds (beau?????) as well as you take care of everyone else, you at least deserve that.

And, omg how exciting it is that you might be a match for the NMDP!!! I do hope that you know what your getting into, but from what I just read with your pain tolerance, it shouldn't be a big deal for you, I'm sure you'll bounce right back! But, oh, wow.....(forgive my excitement but hey, I'm in the business...). Such a selfless act, you amaze me!!!

Looking forward to the next installments of the update of your life, and perhaps, I'll do the same.

Miss you so much, and much love to you my dear!

*hugs*

I've missed you, too! Can you believe it's already been a year since we met in NYC? It's been such a busy year since then. Yes, we both need to be posting more. We can poke each other as reminders.

Speaking of poking, any thoughts/info you have on the subject of marrow donation would be appreciated. I've been researching it and after googling 'bone marrow extraction,' I have to admit those are some big ass needles/syringes. o.O

Thanks for the supportive wishes for the betterment of the sinus situation. :)

Thanks, Mel. I'm hoping I'm on the right track to alleviate these sinus issues. I've had enough already.

I saw your post about watching True Blood. I had bought Season One but just not had time to watch the series. Hence, the marathon viewing this weekend. If only we lived closer! Just finished Episode 9, three more to go. Definitely have to see Season Two. I'm enjoying the show just as much as I did the book series.

Yeah, I'm committed to getting back to posting again. I've missed everyone!

As someone who had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once, I am definitely impressed that you were able to eat just an hour after. Damn.

And major kudos to you for considering going through with the bone marrow transplant. I don't know if I'd be able to, so go you! :)

*hugs*
