I mentioned in a previous post I was in the Confirmatory Typing stage of testing for the National Marrow Donor Program. Last month, I was contacted by the NMDP and told I was a match for a patient with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in need of a bone marrow transplant. Oh, Sherryy...I'm so sorry about this...I know that it meant a lot to you to be able to do this. I think it is incredible and probably should be tested and get on the list as well.

Oh! That is so sad!! I'm so sorry that he passed away from such a horrible disease! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family! It's wonderful, though, that you are a bone marrow donor!

Sherry, I can only imagine how you must be feeling. It is a terrible thing when we are trying to help another fellow human being, and they pass, it is an utter feeling of helplessness.

Although you feel you might have made a difference if things happened a few weeks prior, you have still made a huge difference. You've come on here, and told us about the NMDP, and if only ONE person decides that they might want to be a donor, well, then that's something.

I am sorry for your loss, and this patient's loss. Know that you have still done a wonderful thing, and we all love you for it.
