The name was whispered among those assembled, in tones ranging from respect to disbelief. It was all they’d thought about since Snapcase had come to power and proven himself to fit Mr. Slant’s old motto perfectly. Sadly, it had become clear that the only way he was different from Winder was that he was less likely to have guards stationed everywhere and more likely to order the current guards to wear their briefs outside their other clothes so he could make sure they were clean.
“I for one,” said Madam, “think John Keel would make an excellent Patrician.”
